Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman has often been the fourth guy at the team since he joined them replacing Dale Earnhardt Jr. in 2017. Despite securing multiple wins, and having strong streak of consistent finishes, he hasn’t able to match his teammates Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson and William Byron. The first two have won the title while the latter has been one of the bets in the Next-Gen era.

Alex Bowman is currently having a 21-race winless streak and had the best shot at winning the race last Sunday at Homestead Miami. But in his own words, he choked up the opportunity after losing the race to teammate Kyle Larson. The failure has yet again made some fans to demand HMS to replace Bowman.

The veteran was asked about these comments ahead of the Martinsville Cup race. He asserted that the rumors are just worthless noises and he has been experiencing the same for many years since joining the team.

You guys need something to talk about, I guess, so we’re just going to continue bringing up that stuff all the time. That’s part of me being here, I guess.

Alex Bowman said Peter Stratta of ABC45TV.

Further talking about the point, he highlighted that his contract doesn’t end till the 2026 season. The No:48 Chevy driver reminded the media that there are other things to think about it.

But yeah, definitely appreciate his support, and my contract doesn’t end [until] 2026 so maybe we can talk about something else.

Alex Bowman asserts he is having a strong season in 2025

In the same conversation, Bowman talked about how the 2025 season so far has played out for him. He has finished outside the top-10 just once in the last 6 events, with the best finish being the P2 lasts Sunday.  His worst finish, P26, came at Atlanta after he got caught up in the mess.

Talking about this run, Bowman highlighted that they are third in the championship points table and has the hopes that they can continue performing on the same level for the reminder of the season, by doing things the right way. Though it is going to tough to race the same for the whole season, he believes they are in a good spot.

We’re third on points, doing all the right things, so hopefully we can just continue that. We’re doing the right things at the moment […] Just a long way to go, like obviously that one slip away last week wasn’t great, but I think we’re in a good spot.

Alex Bowman shares his expectations Martinsville race

Coming into this weekend’s race, Alex Bowman seems to hoping to end his winless run and used the momentum from Miami to secure the win on this Sunday. He has won at the track in 2021 and he believes, with a good start to the race he can pull of another win.

I feel like Martinsville is a decent track for me. We have had some success there in the past and won there back in the fall of 2021. Qualifying is going to be really important this weekend just to start the race off with good track position since it’s just difficult to pass. Our team is coming off from a solid run in Miami and we just need to keep the momentum and consistency going.

Alex Bowman said.

At the moment, though winless, Alex Bowman is among the best on the garage and has proven many times with his consistent run that he deserves the HMS seat. The only way Rick Hendrick will replace the veteran, is the possibility that they have a junior driver with the same caliber as Kyle Larson to take over the No:48 car.
