Talladega Speedway is a track that most drivers fear. The 2.66-mile super speedway can end any driver’s race in the blink of an eye with the slightest contact with the walls. However, Alex Bowman revealed a dangerous strategy that he would employ at the Yellawood 500 and be the biggest risk-taker among the 36-car pack starting the race.
Alex Bowman has been a strong racer at street tracks. Moreover, his only win this season came at Chicago in challenging weather conditions. On the contrary, the race at Talladega Speedway would be held in stable conditions and fans would witness average speeds of up to 188 mph while drivers ride close to walls in a bid to extract laptime.
However, the track is infamous for the multi-car pileups and horrific race-ending crashes causing drivers to drive conservatively, but the 31-year-old would not head to the norm and go all out for the 188 laps.
Though the No.48 driver would utilize an aggressive strategy for the race, cautions are the name of the game around Talladega. This could shuffle up the pack and hamper his race strategy as overtime restarts are not uncommon here, making pit strategy even more crucial for every team.
Alex Bowman reckons that he is in a good spot to proceed to the next round
Bowman currently stands sixth in the interim playoff standings. Despite appearing as safe in the playoffs fight for securing a place in the Round of 8, standings often deceive fans as he is only eight points ahead of the playoff bubble with two rounds yet to take place.
Regardless of the concerns, the HM driver reckoned that he is in a good spot to be promoted into the next round of the playoffs. Moreover, only the top three drivers have a considerable margin of 28 or more points. Thus, putting him in close proximity to his rivals ahead and reducing the risk of being dropped out of the playoffs.
Apart from this, Denny Hamlin would be a fierce competitor around Talladega owing to his caliber around Super Speedways. So a cut-throat competition could form up for the win in Alabama and give tons of entertainment for viewers worldwide.
