Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman came into the 2024 season with the hopes of redemption after having one of the worst seasons of his career in 2023, which was marked with a back injury. He was inconsistent at the start of the season, but was able to make a strong comeback later in the season with a win at Chicago Street race.

The second half of the 2024 season was really impressive for Alex Bowman, and he was one of the strong contenders for the championship-4. But his championship dreams came crashing at Roval, as NASCAR disqualified him after his car was found to be underweight. CMO of Bowman’s primary sponsor Ally has now responded to the heartbreaking news.

Andrea Brimmer admitted that he had a rough sleep after the race results and isn’t feeling any better from he did on Sunday. He admitted that he feels gutted for Bowman and his crew, who fought hard and deserved to make into the next round. Most of the NASCAR community seems to agree with the notion that the racer didn’t deserve such a heartbreak.

Woke up this morning – after hardly sleeping – not feeling any better… Gutted for @Alex_Bowman and the @allyracing team who have fought for every point this year and deserve to be moving forward.

NASCAR gave HMS all the opportunity to avoid DQ

As soon as the car failed the first weight in, NASCAR informed the team and gave them the opportunity to do everything under the rules to avoid DQ. Brad Moran, Cup Series managing director, revealed that they allowed the No:48 crew to fuel the car and purge the whole water system, but that wasn’t enough to make the wight.

Unfortunately, the 48 had an issue (and) did not meet minimum weight. We put the car to the side. We continued on. We… gave them the opportunity to fuel the car as well as purge the water system and add water.

Brad Moran said.

Hendrick Motorsports has decided not to appeal the decision, as the verdict was really black and white. They don’t have any good argument on their side to get out of this situation and it will be interesting to see how Bowman will now perform with four more races left in the season.
