The NASCAR Cup garage is at Daytona International Speedway this weekend for the regular season finale with one more spot up for taking in the playoffs. RFK Racing’s 2012 Championship winning owner driver Brad Keselowski, alongside his two teammates, are among the racer coming in desperate for the victory.

Hence, Brad Keselowski was livid when NASCAR decided to cancel the Coke Zero Sugar 400 qualifying owing to rain and lightning protocols. This was because of an unfortunate accident that happened back in August 2012, when 41-year-old Brian Zimmerman from Pennsylvania, who dies after lightning struck him outside a racetrack.

Ten other fans were also injured in the incident, that happened due to failure from the group of fans to follow the warning from NASCAR to seek shelter. Pocono Raceway and the series was sued by the affected parties. Though there was a positive verdict, the insurance companies forced NASCAR to change the protocols regarding races during such weather.

Trying to explain to my family why cars weren’t on track today. A few years ago, a man was sadly killed by lightning after a race and the courts ruled it was NASCAR’s fault. So now to get insurance coverage needed to race, we can’t go race, even when it’s not raining; if lightning is a few miles away.

After the Qualifying was cancelled, Ryan Blaney secured the pole position while Keselowski has to start at P10, not the front-row start he warned. Further explaining the situation, the RFK Racing co-owner took shot at the judge that presided over the case and inspired the policy change, that changes the whole dynamic of the race week.

Daughter- “Don’t bad things just happen sometimes and it’s nobody’s fault.”

Me- “Yes, but some judges don’t believe that and it ruins other’s fun. Their is a lesson in there somewhere.”

Kevin Harvick hopes of a Brad Keselowski win is in peril

Many coming into the race expected a redemption run from the 2012 champion, who has been producing underwhelming runs in almost every race this season. He alongside teammates Ryan Preece and Chris Buscher were projected as potential winner, considering their past performance on Super Speedways.

2014 Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick on his podcast even predicted a victory lane visit from the veteran. He went against his co-hosts that predicted a Kyle Busch win for RCR or a Chris Buscher win for RFK Racing. Now with the qualifying cancellation, thinks looks tough for the veteran driver, on his playoff chase.

I’m going to go with another guy that needs to get back to Victory Lane, Brad Keselowski. That would mark his first win of the season, as well.

But he should not lose all the hope, as P10 is still a good place to start a draft race, given he gets himself out of any wrecks earlier in the race without any significant damage to the car. It would be interesting to see how the No:6 Ford Mustang team perform under pressure on race day.
