The NASCAR fans tuned in on the playoff Round of 8 cutoff race at Martinsville, expecting to see an entertaining event with six drivers coming in desperate for the two spots remaining in the championship-4. But they were is for a disappointment as the championship-4 was determined by some late drama and a disqualification.
Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell was disqualified by NASCAR over the wall ride. On the final corner, after coming into the corner too fast following the overtake Bubba Wallace, made contact with the wall. He decided to keep his foot on the gas, to make sure he doesn’t lose positions and resulted in the banned wall ride.
Bell was forced to undertake such extreme move, following the alleged race manipulation of Ross Chastain and Austin Dillon, who blocked other from getting close to William Byron. This helped Byron to tie on points with Bell and later inherit spot following the DQ. The fans on NASCAR social media scene are extremely disappointed with teams helping each other.
Ex-Cup champion Brad Keselowski also chimed in on the situation, highlighting how disappointing the situation is and explained how it is the playoff system that is to blame for the whole drama. He sees it as the final straw and urged NASCAR make changes, while replying to a post from Auto Racing Analytics, highlighting the absurdity of situation.
This should be the last straw on the camel’s back for the playoffs.

The ex-racer got a point, as NASCAR had no choice but to uphold the ban on wall-ride as what bell did was against the rules. It’s the circumstances leading the incident that is raising eyebrows of everyone involved in the sport.
The alleged coalition within the Chevy garage is something that needs to be looked into, as if manufacturer alliances manipulate races, it’s really damming for the sport. The Toyota’s aren’t innocent in the situation as well. NASCAR has to investigate it and make sure it never happens again.
