The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season has been a nightmare for 2012 champion Brad Keselowski, who is still desperately searching for a win. He had another heartbreak on Saturday night at the iconic Bristol Motor Speedway as he finished the race at P2, 0.3 seconds behind Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell.
It’s the second time the No:6 Ford team has finished the race at P2, but unlike the previous event he finally had the best car of the day. Brad Keselowski’s Ford Mustang led over 33 laps, and the team had a solid strategy, but it wasn’t enough the overtake Christopher Bell who survived the chaos with the help some luck to thrive.
Further talking about the point, the RFK Racing owner driver asserted that the Bristol disappointment has been the story of the season for them and admitted that missing out on the victory is really frustrating for them. He pointed out that they rolled the dice and failed to yield the result they wanted.
It’s the story of our kind of season. A 50/50 shot on a restart and I got the lane that couldn’t launch. It’s just frustrating. We had a great car, great strategy, put ourselves in position to, if not win, at least have a really, really solid day, and on that last restart rolled the dice and didn’t get anything good.

Furthermore, Brad Keselowski explained the factors from the final restart that cost him the first Cup race win of the 2025 season. The No:77 Chevy of Carson Hocevar failing to get a solid launch, and having an incident with Zane Smith, killed the momentum he would have had in the final restart duel against Bell.
The [No.] 77 didn’t get a good launch, and then the [No.] 38 missed the corner and cleared him up, and the bottom lane took off. It was a 50/50 shot and like everything else, got the wrong one.

Brad Keselowski admits he lost despite playing tire strategy perfectly
In the same conversation, the veteran talked about the Goodyear tire with extra fall off that was used in the race and asserted that they had perfect tire strategy. But the chain reaction he caused during the restart cost him the race.

The bottom was dominant. A lot of bump-and-run passes. It felt like Bristol from 1995 in that regard…. But we played the tire stuff, I thought, perfectly to win the race. Someone pulled out in front of me there and stopped, when I was leading, and I bumped into him and caused some kind of chain reaction.

This wasn’t the only time luck didn’t favor the veteran Ford driver on the day. Towards the end of the race, he found himself close to overtaking the No:20 Toyota by dumping him. But despite making a huge contact on the rear of the Camry, it wasn’t enough to kill the momentum Bell had, as he went onto win the race.
The comments from Brad Keselowski after the race shows the veteran racer feels pretty disappointed about the result, as he knows he might not be getting such a good car anytime soon this season owing to how inconsistent RFK Racing has been this season. It would be interesting to see how the reaming seven races of the 2025 season is going to playout for the veteran and his team.
