The 2026 NASCAR off-season was a major challenge for many racers and one of them was 2012 champion Brad Keselowksi. He broke his leg, during a skiing vacation with his family and had to go through immediate surgery.

The veteran was immdiatly put in rehab and had to miss the unofficial season opener, The Clash, before getting cleared to race again. He is yet to fully recover from the surgery, but has already been part of four challenging races. Recovering while racing cars, is both a blessing and a curse for the RFK Racing owner driver.

I’ve got some great people around me. I’m just jamming in all the PT work with some of the best professionals you could hope to work with, and I’m building stronger every week, but not as fast as I want to. Driving the race car is both a blessing and a curse.

Brad Keselowski said.

The veteran explained that being a race cars driver gives him extra motivation to finish the rehab faster and get back to being string again. But at the same it hurts to race with the broken leg, which eventually affects his rehab.

It’s a blessing because it provides the motivation for me to really push my rehab and do things faster, which is not a bad thing. It’s a curse because, yes, when I get in the car, it does hurt. It does pull me backward.

Brad Keselowski asserted via RACER.

The veteran racer admitted that things become really challenging and painful, when adrenaline rush ends after the race. That when the stiffness to the leg returns and Brad Keselowski needs to recover from it immediately to be a better racer.

When I have the adrenaline and all those things, I don’t notice it. But when it wears off, yeah, I’ve got to recover from that.

Brad Keselowski added.

Brad Keselowski had a tough day in office at Phoenix

In the same conversation, the RFK Racing veteran racer shared his thoughts on the tough day he had at Phoenix. The long flight and the big crash he was part of was a major set back for the No:6 Ford Mustang team.

His primary goal, after the weekend was getting himself fit again before the Las Vegas weekend. The Ford racer has admitted that it will take him multiple weeks to get back to normal and he has accepted it as his new reality.

The long airplane flights to the West Coast and the crash on Saturday were not my friends. So, I’ll spend most of this week trying to get back to where I was before I left for Phoenix and hopefully, by Thursday or Friday, when I leave for Las Vegas, I’ll be ahead of where I was last week. And that’s kind of what my weeks have looked like. That’s my world for, hopefully, only a few more months, but a reality nonetheless, and I’m trying to make it all happen.

Brad Keselowski said.

The comments from the veteran shows how much he is working hard behind the scene to get back to winning form. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the RFK boss and his team in the coming weeks.
