NASCAR breaks down the reason behind taking over the iconic Bowman Grey track

The Bowman Grey is one of the most historical racetracks of all time. The first race at the track was held back in 1949 and was heavily promoted by NASCAR founder Bill France Sr. It has been big presence in the NASCAR schedule in the initial years of the sport.
NASCAR announced on Thursday that they’ve acquired the lease to the track until 2050. This is a historical moment for all NASCAR fans as they will be able to see their favorite drivers finally race on this iconic track. After the announcement, Senior Vice President of NASCAR Ben Kennedy spoke about the importance of the track to the sport and why acquiring it was a historical moment.
This is a really kind of special moment for us,I know it is especially meaningful for Jim seeing that he grew up around Bowman Gray Stadium, It’s a very special place to us personally, but it’s a special place in the sport as you think back to the ’40s and ’50s and NASCAR really beginning to grow through that first decade and a half or so. And Bowman Gray was a pretty big part of that.Ben Kennedy’s statement after the announcement.
With the track’s racing operations now being under NASCAR’s control, it seems that it will be used heavily for racing until 2050. The track is truly phenomenal and will give veteran and new NASCAR fans some brilliant displays of racing. It seems NASCAR has some fans to get the track back to it’s former glory.
Corey Lajoie shares his thoughts on the Bowman Grey track’s return
After NASCAR’s announcement of having acquired the lease for the Bowman Grey track until 2050, there was a massive buzz among the drivers. Chevrolet driver Corey Lajoie was one of the drivers who seemed to be very pleased with the announcement.
The No:7 Chevy driver complimented the track and spoke about how it will promote closer and more aggressive racing. He also spoke about how the track is generally just a cool place to hang out, chill, and watch fights at.
“t’s a cool place, man…One of the most fun places to drive as a racecar driver. You go there for a modified race and the fans are so pumped up and it’s cool just to feel that energy. A very special place. You go to Bowman Gray to watch a fight and a race breaks out.

The track has produced some brilliant close racing throughout the years and seems like will provide fans with entertainment for many more years. After all, the track was nicknamed ” the Madhouse”, so NASCAR watchers can definitely expect some brilliant displays of racing there.
