23XI Racing star Bubba Wallace found himself in a tricky spot during the Cup race at Dover. The No. 23 driver almost slammed into the back of Christopher Bell’s car. After the race, the 31-year-old apologized to his spotter Freddie Kraft for making him go through the shocking situation.

Wallace started the Cup race from 22nd place. The 23XI Racing star was making his way up the field. JGR’s Christopher Bell lost control of the No. 20 Toyota and went sideways on the track. Bubba Wallace almost collided with the fellow Toyota. Though, the 31-year-old’s quick instincts allowed him to get past Bell without making any contact.

Bubba Wallace shared a clip on X. In the video, his spotter Freddie Kraft can be heard shouting “Woah” as the 31-year-old makes his way right behind Bell’s car. After Wallace narrowly avoids in the incident, Kraft laughs as he takes a sigh of relief. This is then followed by another “Woah.”

The 31-year-old hilariously apologized to his crew member, claiming that he had no intention of giving him a ‘heart attack.’ Bubba Wallace reckoned that the entire incident led to an adrenaline rush as he was able to keep racing in one piece.

Sorry for the heart attack @FreddieKraft This one fired me up

Wallace finished seventh in the race, a much-needed result to keep his Playoff hopes alive. Presently, the 31-year-old is holding on to the last spot for the Playoffs by a handful of points. However, if a new race winner emerges in the last five races, he would lose out on making it to the business end of the championship.

Bubba Wallace recalls Legend cars weekend with Shane van Gisbergen and Scott McLaughlin

NASCAR drivers have a busy season, particularly in the Cup Series. Drivers are going from one track to another in the long calendar. However, they still find opportunities to race just for their passion away from the field. Bubba Wallace had competed in the Charlotte Motor Speedway this season with Shane van Gisbergen and Scott McLaughlin in Legend cars during the Summer Shootout.

The 23XI Racing star did not have the best of starts to the weekend. He had qualified dead last for the race. Nevertheless, Bubba Wallace came into a league of his own on Sunday, making his way up to second place, defeating his NASCAR colleagues. Shane van Gisbergen finished ninth, while Scott McLaughlin managed to achieve a fifth place result.

Wallace admitted that he was simply nowhere near the mark when it came to Qualifying. However, the 31-year-old knew exactly how to turn things around during the race. He hoped that such a turnaround will give him some momentum going forward.

My qualifying efforts suck. And so I thought I was just reliving Sundays, and I actually turned things around. So, hopefully, this is foreshadowing something for the future. That’d be really nice.

Bubba Wallace said on his YouTube channel.

Certainly, Bubba Wallace has made improvements as a driver over the years. Yet, there is still plenty of potential untapped. The 31-year-old must try and make his way to Victory Lane in the last five races to guarantee a spot in the Playoffs, without the need to worry about the points cut-off.
