As the regular season is coming to an end, the race for securing a spot in the playoffs is also concluding soon. This has now piled up pressure on Bubba Wallace to go all out in Darlington and try to secure a playoff berth before it’s too late. Subsequently, the 30-year-old has revealed his plans for the Southern 500 as he intends to make it two in a row playoff qualification for the 2024 season.
Currently, 13 drivers have secured a playoff berth owing to their qualification by winning a race in the concurrent season. On the other hand, this still leaves three spots which are up for grabs at Darlington Raceway. While Martin Truex Jr. seems to have one spot covered, the rest two are still to fight for as Bubba Wallace hopes to get one after a disappointing weekend in Daytona.
It’s just showing up and me doing all that I can. Take out the outside factors. Pit stops or we call a wrong race, right? You go out and drive your best race you’ve ever had knowing that you have the people, knowing that you have the equipment and everything else will make its own way. That’s how I’m approaching it.Bubba Wallace said on Dale Jr. Download
The No.23 driver claimed that he would be giving his all for the race in Darlington. Barring any unsighted problems, he would be driving the best race of his lifetime around the 1.3-mile track and try to leapfrog Chris Buescher despite a massive 21-point gap.
Michael Jordan had texted Bubba Wallace after the race in Daytona
Wallace finished sixth on road at Daytona. Though the finish was labeled as a solid result, his rival Buescher extended his lead causing concern to build up on his side of the garage.

Despite the rising stakes, 23XI Racing’s co-owner Michael Jordan texted his driver about how he the 30-year-old should not lose hope. This motivated the two-time race winner, who claimed that Jordan’s words acted as a catalyst that enabled him to think to give his best for the race in Darlington and push flat-out till the chequered flag is waved.
I had [Michael Jordan] text me and he said, ‘Things you want more cost more.' All day yesterday and all day, in the middle of the night, I’m telling myself you’ve just got to go out there and have the best race you’ve ever had of your life.Bubba Wallace said on Dale Jr. Download
On the other hand, drivers who would qualify for the playoffs would race at the Round of 12 in Atlanta. Huge changes could be anticipated in the pecking order as the regular season race witnessed a photo-finish. Thus, this year’s championship could tip in anyone’s favor if drivers are not careful and precise in their racecraft.
