A lot was expected from 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace coming into the 2024 season following his career best season in 2023 that saw making into the Round of 12. But the fans as well as 23XI was in for a disappointing ride as he missed out on playoffs due to inconsistency. His teammate Tyler Reddick winning the regular season championship makes the situation much worse.

Coming into the last race before the playoff, at Darlington, Bubba Wallace had to outclass Chris Buescher by a large margin or win the race to make it the next round. Both didn’t happen despite the No:23 starting the race on pole as Chase Briscoe secured a race win while Wallace got caught up in late race wrecks.

While talking about the poor result after the race, the TRD driver admitted that he wasn’t good enough this season and admitted that it stings to say it. He insisted that a lack of effort wasn’t the reason for their poor results. Wallace then wished Reddick a great post season and shared his hopes to see a Toyota winning the championship.

Unfortunate, I hate it for your guys, but hats off to the 14 [Chase Briscoe]. I thought I did something yesterday, they one-up’d us and showed up when it was game time. That’s pretty badass, so congrats to them. …Wasn’t good enough for 16th this year. Hate that, it stings saying that but wasn’t from lack of effort from all of us from these 23 car. Best of luck to the 45 [Tyler Reddick] and hopefully a Toyota wins.

Bubba Wallace asserts he got caught up in other people’s mess at Darlington

While earlier talking about the disappointing run Wallace highlighted that his team getting the adjustments wrong was the reason for the poor run. He also pointed out he got caught up in someone else’s mess late in the race because of the decision to not to pit late in the race during a caution.

We got behind on adjustments. We were back and forth on our US Air Force Toyota Camry. A little too loose, a little too tight That caution with a couple laps on tires where we stayed out, I don’t know if that was the deciding factor. We just got so tight there and got back there in traffic, a spot we hadn’t been all day. I got caught up in someone else’s mess.

The star driver seems really disappointed with how the regular season has turned out for him. He now has to shift to focus to getting at least a win before the season concludes and helps his teammate Tyler Reddick to be in the contention for the championship.
