Bubba Wallace, the only full-time black driver in NASCAR, is has been one of the most consistent drivers of the 2025 season. He seems to on his way to finally put an end to the two-year winless streak and his crew under the leadership of the new crew chief has played a significant role in it. Their decision-making regarding strategy and car balance so far has hit the mark.
One of the reasons behind the team’s ability to produce strong run is the system they have in place to identify the suggestions and inputs that can make them better while weeding out the changes that might sabotage their string run. Bubba Wallace in his recent appearance on the Breakfast Club Podcast highlighted 23XI’s procedures to tackle any sort of ‘bulls**t’ within the team.
We have a good process in knowing basically feeding out the bulls**t.
Bubba Wallace said on The Breakfast Club.
Bubba Wallace made it clear that all members of 23XI Racing must show up to work with the motivation to succeed. He highlighted that the team’s owners, NBA legend Michael Jordan and NASCAR veteran Denny Hamlin, are two figures who want to win at all costs but will never compromise on integrity.
You have to show up and ready to work. You look at who the owners are, Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin. They care about winning and they care about doing it with integrity.
Bubba Wallace added.
The 31-year-old claimed that if anyone at 23XI Racing lacked integrity or the passion to win, it would be ‘game over’ for them at the team. As such, Wallace asserted that he never had to worry about potentially facing accidental sabotage from his crew members during his NASCAR campaigns.
If you don’t have that, then it’s game over for them. We don’t have to worry about that, and I never really have.
Bubba Wallace noted.
Bubba Wallace opens up on facing hate from fans
The 2020 NASCAR season was a difficult one for Bubba Wallace. The 31-year-old spoke out against racism and police brutality in light of George Floyd‘s death. During the season, an item resembling a noose was found in Wallace’s garage at Talladega with fears of death threats.

Though, an FBI investigation later concluded that it was just a pull-down rope from last year’s race. This increased hate comments towards Wallace with even then-US President Donald Trump hitting out at the NASCAR driver. Since then, Bubba Wallace has continued to be booed by some fans.
The NASCAR star reckoned that he has attended sporting games throughout his life but never resorted to booing. So much so, that Bubba Wallace labeled this act ‘childish.’ The 31-year-old acknowledged that at the end of the day, fans will do what they please. However, Wallace still remains in shock when he recalls the hate after Talladega.
I’m not a person that boos other teams because I’m kind of in the sports world myself, and it just kind of seems childish. But fans do what they want, so booing is a part of sports in general. The next week after Talladega was like, a light switch. It was like, whoa! Holy s*** I didn’t ask for this. Now they’re making noise.
Bubba Wallace stated.
Certainly, Bubba Wallace has learnt to live with such comments in NASCAR. The 31-year-old has not given up on his right to speak on social issues and will continue to do so in the coming years. However, once Wallace gets inside his car, he focuses completely on winning.
