The current US President, Donald Trump, has a good relationship with the NASCAR community. He has appeared for NASCAR races twice over the years, with his latest appearance coming at Charlotte for the 2024 Coca-Cola 600, during the election campaigns with Richard Childress as his host.

It was reported that the 47th president of the USA will visit the Daytona International Speedway during the season opener, Daytona 500. Michael Jordan‘s NASCAR driver, Bubba Wallace, shared his feelings about the visit when asked about it during the media session last Wednesday. He doesn’t seem to care much about it.

At the Daytona 500 media day on Wednesday, Wallace said he “couldn’t care less” if Trump showed up or not. “We’re here to race. Not for the show,”

Bubba Wallace said as reported by Fox Sports.

The nonchalant comments from Wallace might be because of the feud they have had in the past with Donlad Trump, during the “noose” controversy. They had an online back-and-forth that resulted in more controversy. It happened during NASCAR’s clampdown on issues around the sport such as racism, making it more complicated.

Bubba Wallace is coming in with hopes of winning the Daytona 500

Bubba Wallace had a strong start to his 2025 Daytona 500, as he started by winning the Duel 1 race. This gives Wallace, who has finished P2 twice in the track, extra confidence going into the main event, and he expects this to be a momentum changer that would finally help him to secure the most coveted race win in the Cup series.

Second-place finishes, I guess, weren’t crawling enough. So maybe the Duel win is. Now we can put ourselves in a little bit better spot. I feel like we’ve done just about everything right. But just about everything isn’t good enough to win the 500.

Bubba Wallace said.

The comments from Wallace show he has extra confidence in himself as well as the car going into the main event on Sunday. It would be a really special evening for the sole African American racer in the Cup garage if he wins the Daytona 500 with the US President in attendance.
