The NASCAR Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway was tough weekend for 23Xi Racing’s Bubba Wallace. His good streak of top 10 qualifying came to an end on Saturday and it resulted in a disappointing P19 finish for the Toyota veteran, after starting the race on P22, earning him just 18 points on the day.
After seeing the good pace, the No:23 Toyota Camry had earlier in the race, many expected Bubba Wallace to produce a solid run and secure another top 10 finish. But he got caught up in the messy traffic, which the track is infamous for, failed to move up the track taking advantage of the good car he had, resulting in him finishing a lap down.
Bubba Wallace shared his thoughts abouts the tough situation via his official X page and gave a good take on how he is getting over it. He pointed out that walking to the plane with his wife Amanda Wallace and son Becks besides him has made him realize that its all he needs to move on. The No:23 Toyota driver has shared his focus to the upcoming race weeks after the mid-season break.
Damn that was rough. Thought it was going alright and then just plateaued. Hearing my wife make Becks laugh on the way to plane. Made me realize, oh well move on. Nothing better than hearing that! See yall in dega, I’m out.

How fatherhood changed Bubba Wallace?
Since the start of the 2025 season, Wallace seems to be racing with whole new clarity and approach. Almost everyone in the racing community has acknowledged this change and how he has become a better version himself on the track.

Wallace has recently talked about it and has admitted that having Becks in his life had changed his whole perspective about racing for good. He sees it as one of the most positive mentality shifts, he has had in his career.
I think coming into this year, we’ve had a lot of good things happen off the racetrack, Baby boy being born – six months old. It’s a nice perspective shift, a mentality shift to where I say this in the most positive way.
Bubba Wallace said.
Further talking about the point, Wallace confirmed that his primary goal at the moment is to be great dad, husband and a family man. Having a kid made him realize there is more to life than just racing, something he so far has dedicated majority of his life to.
But nothing else matters anymore besides being a great father, being a great husband, being a great just family man… It took having a kid to realize like there’s so much more to life [than racing].
Bubba Wallace added.
Many other racers in the community have experienced a similar mentality shift when they became parents and that’s why they acknowledged Wallace changes quickly. It will be interesting to see how long it will take him to secure a race win and end his two-year winless streak with the new attitude.
