Bubba Wallace has found himself in a bad streak yet again 2024 NASCAR Cup season. He had solid start to the season before having some back-to-back stinger. He bounced back and started delivering again before coming to Talladega. The last two race weeks, Dega and this Sunday at Dover, was a nightmare for him as he suffered back-to-back DNF.
On both occasion Bubba Wallace was the first one to be taken out because of a poor decision making from his rival and ended up collecting multiple cars. At Degas it was John Hunter Nemechek that caused the all-Toyota crash and on Sunday at Dover it was Zane Smith who spun the No:23. The incident ended up ruining the day for William Byron and Christopher Bell as well.
After getting released from the infield care centre following the crash, Wallace pointed out that it was just a bummer of result for him. He admitted that back-to-back DNF wasn’t something his team deserved. But the TRD driver is hopeful that he could be able to bounce back at Kansas, where he has won his last Cup race.
I guess turning 30, gonna be a dad, you gotta be more mature. Just a bummer. … Just not the result we needed — back-to-back DNFs… We’ll just go on to Kansas where hopefully we’re not around any squirrels and go kick their ass.Bubba Wallace said at Dover.
Bubba Wallace speaks on his bad luck despite big efforts
Wallace before giving the Kansas verdict, talked about Bootie Baker reminding him that Dover will be bigger grind than Dega last Monday. He had to grind his way back to the top-10 on Sunday before unfortunately ending DNFed.
Man, [crew chief] Bootie [Barker] said it perfect Monday. I was pissed off and frustrated after Talladega and he said, ‘Hey, we’re gonna have to grind our ass off for Dover from practice to qualifying to the race and it’s not gonna be pretty.’ I don’t think he meant that part, wrecking out wasn’t gonna be pretty. But we had to grind. Proud of the effort we put in every week, just unfortunate with no results to show for it.Bubba Wallace said.
There is still 15 more races left in the season for Wallace to make a comeback, but Kansas next week would be his best choice as 23XI Racing has been the best team at the track in the Next-Gen era. With him being out of top-16 on points, Wallace has to step up and deliver next-week.
