Bubba Wallace has continued riding the impressive momentum from the P5 finish at The Clash, as he secured the victory at the Daytona Duel 1. He started the race in the mid-pack, but the No:23 Toyota Camry was able to make his way up the grid and eventually lead the most laps in the race, after surviving a big wreck involving Chandler Smith to score the win.
Tyler Reddick deserves a lot of credit for Bubba Wallace’s win. The No:23 and No:45 cars played the team game to perfection. Wallace being calm and composed, unlike in the past where he messes up in such situation, helped him to secure the victory. The win also gave the TRD driver the opportunity to start P3 for the main event on Sunday.

He really enjoyed how the race played out for him and on his post-race interview admitted that he always wanted to win the event. Wallace also gave the credit where it’s due, as he thanked his teammate Tyler Reddick for helping him win the race. What makes it special is the fact that the 2024 Regular Season champion won the event last year.
Thanks. Man, what a night. The crowd is loud tonight. Appreciate you guys. I hope that was a good race. There we go. Thanks to Tyler. That was awesome to see two team cars work together that well and learn a lot for Sunday. Did a great job pushing me.
Bubba Wallace told Fox Sports.
He got his first Duel win.

Bubba Wallace explained how he always wanted to win the event
Further talking about the win, Wallace pointed out that he has a solid car, though it had some balance issue when the race in the mid-pack. He then revealed that he always wanted to win the Duel race as his buddies from the garage, including Reddick had already secured the win.

Our McDonald’s Toyota Camry was really fast. Two different balances from being in the pack to being out front. Have some work to do there. I’ve wanted one of these Duel wins for so long. All my buddies got one. Tyler got one last year. I was pissed off. I got one now. I’m good.
Bubba Wallace said.
The victory has given a huge momentum boost for Wallace, as he is going into Daytona 500 to finally win the race and end the streak of coming close to wins only to mess up. It would be interesting to see if he can pull of a strong run on Sunday.
