23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace was over the moon, after he secured his third career win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday. It helped him to land spot in the playoffs, which he missed out on in 2024, and end his 100-race winless streak. The racer and his crew celebrated 23XI’s first win of the season properly.
In a latest interview, Bubba Wallace shared how the party went and how he felt waking up on Monday after having some wild moments. He admitted that there was a pretty bad hangover in the morning, despite having limited alcohol after the race. But his son waking up alongside him, crying ready to make his day a beautiful mess changed everything.
Getting tore up and having a hangover the next day is for the birds. I had two beers and a glass of bourbon Sunday after the race. I woke up 7 am. Becks is crying, ready to rip.

Further talking about the point, he admitted that he got sober up quick as soon as he started spending time with his son. But the hangover over just two beers made him realize he is getting old and is sounding like an old man. The veteran racer is just 31-year-old, has at least a decade more of racing left in him and many more years left in him to be considered as old man.
He’s ready to go on about his day. That sobers you up real quick, too. But man, I can’t get past two more beers, and then, I’m ready for bed. Damn, I’m getting old. That sounds like an old man.
Bubba Wallace added.
In the same conversation, Bubba Wallace also shared how 23XI Racing celebrated the victory back in their race shop. At Airspeed the team had the traditional debrief and everyone was pumped about it. The Jos Gibbs Racing crew also acme into congratulate them in the TRD debrief session, as they are close partners.
It was a really smooth day yesterday. Obviously had our traditional debrief meetings. A lot of people pumped to see us in victory lane, getting us a win for 23XI. Even at the JGR (Joe Gibbs Racing) meeting, a lot of handshakes, congratulations there. That was cool.
Bubba Wallace asserted.
What was the biggest factor behind Bubba Wallace’s win?
In a separate conversation, Bubba Wallace shared his thoughts on the factors that played a role in his victory at Indy. One of the main issues that has been holding back the veteran racer over the years has been his drop in his confidence and many in the racing community has called out the TRD driver for being too self-critical.

This year he has been able to find ways to battle the outside noise, alongside the critical mind voice. It helped him to shift the focus to the race and race without having devil and angle on his shoulders. This helped him to overcome the challenge from Kyle Larson in the two overtime restarts.
The biggest thing that gets lost is believing in self. We’re all human and we’re all super hard on ourselves. You guys know how hard I am on myself. It was kind of the angel and devil on your shoulder. That all went away on the restarts because it was time to really focus and get the job done.
