Bubba Wallace found himself in the midst of controversy at Kansas after he got used up by his boss Denny Hamlin on the last lap costing him the win. Chase Elliott used the opportunity to score the victory, leaving the 23XI Racing driver in a must-win situation for Roval and TRD heartbroken over mot winning a race in R-12.

Following the incident, it was expected that Bubba Wallace and Denny Hamlin will have conversation and settle the beef. But it took them six days to speak as they only talked about the incident at Charlotte. The beef was lingering for a week, before they had the talk where the No:23 driver shared his displeasure and the No:11 driver listened respectfully.

It was just the way it was kind of handled behind the scenes. (It) just kept going, kept adding fuel to the fire and I hate that it got to that point, and I expressed my displeasure to Denny today, and he totally respected that.

The drama over the incident getting dragged on not only affected Wallace, but his team as well, while they were doing everything possible to field a fast car for the road course weekend. Hence the conversation was much needed and it turned out to be productive as Hamlin was able to digest the perspective his driver shared, as well as see things differently.

I had a dark cloud over my mind all week long, man, it’s not fair to my team…I expressed that, he told me he respected that, and frankly the conversation allowed him to see things from a different perspective. Denny usually doesn’t do that but this allowed him to have that opportunity.

Bubba Wallace added.

The veteran racer didn’t come into the weekend expecting to have a good conversation with his boss, from the perspective of them being rivals. But it was peaceful, helped him reduce the baggage that was on his shoulders. The only thing he regrets about it is the fact that they waited around till Saturday to finally have the inevitable talk.

As much as I wanted to come in here and MF the guy, the competitor Denny, the conversation went better than expected and you feel lighter on your feet. There is a transition period that you have to go through, and it su**s that it is happening on Saturday.

Bubba Wallace found common ground with Denny Hamlin

In the same conversation earlier, the Brickyard 500 winner asserted that the conversation between them was heart to heart and peaceful. He wasn’t expecting them to share both sides of the Kansas clash and find a common ground.

Look it was definitely a somber week for sure, and I hate that it got to this point – the lingering effect, but Denny and I just talked 30 minutes ago. It was a good, heart-to-heart conversation. It came from a place of peace. It went better than I thought it would. He shared his side of things, and I shared mine and we had common ground.

The comments from Bubba Wallace are pretty positive for the driver as well as the team, considering they can now focus on just the Roval race as well as the charter lawsuit, instead of internal drama. It would be interesting to see how the duo is going race each other in same situation in the coming events.
