23XI Racing is producing solid runs consistently, despite being in the midst of chaos with the charter lawsuit and racing as an open team. Their star driver Bubba Wallace played a significant role in it, by winning the Brickyard 400 and performing above expectations in the road courses. He continued the streak with another top 10 finish at Watkins Glen this Sunday, starting the event at P15.

Bubba Wallace secured a P8 finish, a spot ahead of his teammate Tyler Reddick, who is a road course racing specialist. Talking about the impressive performance, the No:23 Toyota driver declared that he had a solid race, with his team doing a really good job executing the race. But he also admitted that they are still missing the beat on some aspects of the car.

It was solid. McDonald’s team did a really, really good job getting our Toyota close. We were still missing the beat a little bit just from the start of the weekend.

Bubba Wallace said via Frontstretch.

The TRD driver made the most of it with the car he had on Sunday, and asserted that the top-10 was the best result they could secure. He credited his crew for supporting him during the challenging situation and appreciated the everyone in the crew. The solid performance has earned him enough positive momentum for last two races of the regular season.

We just had to execute, run a clean race all day and make the most of it. That’s what we did. And we come out with a top 10. Months ago we determined that we were a 10th-12th place car on road courses, and that’s just volumes to the people on this team and them pushing me to believe in that and to give it my all. And this is what we get. So, I appreciate them.

Bubba Wallace added.

During the conversation, the Toyota driver was asked about the factor that has helped him to succeed in the last few races. He pointed out that he has calmed himself down and started processing things slowly, helping him to get over the challenges to succeed.

Just calming down, slowing things down, processing things a little bit slower and making it work.

In a separate conversation, talking about the solid top-10 finish, Bubba Wallace asserted that his Indy Cup race win was life changing for him as it helped him to race better in the subsequent events with less pressure on his shoulders. He was able to not make the usual mistakes he used to make in the road courses.

Indy was life-changing. It allowed me to come here and not harp on all of the mistakes that I usually make at a road course and figure out how to make less. I think we did that.

Bubba Wallace said.

Further talking about the Toyota race, Bubba Wallace admitted that he did overperform the expectations that was on him with the car, taking advantage of the positive momentum. Securing P8 in a car that was not top-10 in speed is a win in Wallace’s books.

I don’t think our car was capable of winning at all, but 10th to 12th place is where we determined our team is a couple months ago, and we exceeded that, so that’s a win.

Bubba Wallace added.

The three times Cup series race winner has two more races left before the playoff. While Richmond will be an average race for him, the regular season finale Daytona will give him an opportunity to secure a second win of 2025. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the star driver in the coming days.
