23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace came into this weekend’s race at Pocono Raceway with the momentum of a solid Mexico City race finish, expecting another impressive day. But the goddess of luck wasn’t on his side, nor with his teammate Riley Herbst. Both Toyota drivers were the victims of a mechanical failure that caused wrecks.
Riley Herbst was the first driver to go out, that to in just the 41st lap of the race. Initially it was thought his tier failed and he wrecked. But soon it was revealed to be a break failure. Juts 13 laps after that caution, Bubba Wallace’s break rooter exploded, cut his tires and made him drive straight into the wall and crash, in a brutal incident.

Fortunately, both drivers got out of the car, without any injury. The incident forced 23XI to ask Tyler Reddick to pit, as they were ready to take the risk of having their third driver involved in a wreck as well. The car was ok, but he was able to finish the race outside top-30. Talking about the whole drama, and admitted that he hates how everything playout for his team and sponsors.
Apologize to the racing gods. This weekend sucked aside from practice, but that pays nothing. Hate it for my guys, hate it for McDonald’s. We knew it was going to be a grind. I was mentally prepared for that all day.

The veteran racer further explained it frustrating to be not productive at the weekend, after coming in strong in the practice. After a poor qualifying, and penalty from NASCAR, Wallace’s only goal was getting a good finish, but the break fail deprived him even of that, making the day miserable for everyone involved in 23XI.
As frustrating as it gets here to not be able to pass here at Pocono, we were just going to take our lumps and march our way through and set ourselves up for the end of the race. Brakes didn’t want to hang around that long.

Bubba Wallace’s boss doesn’t believe in bad luck
Talking about the situation, Bubba Wallace pointed out that he was getting ready to take on Austin Cindric, when the brake pedal exploded, running his momentum of three back-to-back good races. But does he think this is part of bad luck that been haunting his team? Well, no, as his boss Michael Jordan believes everyone makes their own bad luck.

None. I was going to battle the 17 and the 2, by the time I was ready to touch the pedal it just went to the floor. Brakes exploded. Hate it. Two, three good races in a row, then here we go with the bad luck again. But hey, MJ told me there’s no such thing as bad luck. We create our own luck.
Bubba Wallace said.
The poor finish hurt the No:23 Camry drivers’ playoff hopes, as he now just has a 29 points advantage from the cutoff line. With the Pocono win Chase Briscoe has taken out another spot that in final 16 for the drivers hoping to make on points. If Wallace boss Denny Hamlin won the race, the story would have been much different for him.
The comments from Bubba Wallace show he is disappointed with how everything turned out, but isn’t ready to throw his team under the bus for the break issue, as they have given him great cars in the previous races. It would be interesting to see how the TRD driver will comeback in the upcoming weekend and will he be able to end his winless streak.
