NASCAR recently announced Carl Edwards induction into the Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2025. The veteran’s retirement in 2016, after losing the championship over a late race wreck featuring Joey Logano, was a huge surprise for the race fans. Since then, many expected him to make a comeback, but it never happened.
Now, while talking about the HOF induction, Edwards has asserted that he will not make a return to the Cup series as a racer. He pointed out that though he enjoys being a racer, he respects how tough the sport is and reckons he won’t be able to perform at a level that is needed to success in the new era of the sport.

The reason I don’t get into a car now and go do it is because I absolutely respect how tough it is. I know how tough it is. To go do it as a fun thing, I have fun personally trying to do very well at things and to go do it as a fun thing, I don’t think I would be as good as I should be.Carl Edwards said via Fox Sports.
Some fans might still have hopes of seeing him return to racing, if not in NASCAR, with other series like late model racing or dirt races. He still has a lot of influence among the fans to attract a huge crowd. It would be interesting to see if he will ever make a return to racing.
Carl Edwards in open to being a broadcaster
While talking about the same, Edwards also asserted that he has enjoyed being close to the sport as a broadcaster with Fox Sports and had a lot of funs calling the races. He is now more open that he has ever been to make a turn as a broadcaster.
What I enjoyed was being up in the [FOX] booth. I enjoyed kind of calling the race to whatever degree I did there for 45 minutes or whatever. So, maybe something like that. But I don’t have anything lined up right now. But definitely much more open to that than I ever have been.Carl Edwards said.
If Edwards isn’t making a return to NASCAR as a driver, fans would be delighted to see him come in as a broadcaster calling the race and giving his unique take on the sport. He can be a great option for NBC to fill the void that’s there following Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s move to Amazon ad TNT.
