The 2025 NASCAR Cup season has seen last year’s best rookie Carson Hocevar getting on the nerves of established veterans with his aggressive racing. His most recent victim was Hyak Motorsports veteran Ricky Stenhouse Jr. at Nashville on Sunday. On lap 106 of the race, the duo made contact after the No:77 Spire Chevy refused to back down from the move and ended in the latter DNFing.
In his race analysis for Prime Sports after the event, ex-NASCAR racer Carl Edwards shared his verdict on the incident, alongside Dale Earnhardt Jr. The Hall of Fame duo called out the Carson Hocevar for being too aggressive on the track and went on to remind him of consequences. Edwards has been on the receiving end of retaliations in the past and knows how costly it is.
He sat up here in the pre-race and said, ‘Hey, I’m just going to be aggressive. No regrets, I’m going to go, I’m going to get it.’ And there you see it. And I talked about it a little bit, but there’s a price, and it hurts, and I’ve been there, and it’s not fun to be on the receiving end of what’s coming.
Carl Edwards said via Prime NASCAR broadcast.
Further talking about the point, two times Xfinity Series champion Dale Jr. gave his verdict, explaining how Hocevar should avoid having beefs with the “good guys” of the sport. The personality makes Hocevar stands out, but that doesn’t mean he is going to get away with it when he gets in a duel with the wrong guy. Stenhouse Jr. is known for being that wrong guy, which opens the door for a new story line in the sport.
I don’t know that I want him to dial it off or dial it back because it’s great as a fan to see him in controversy. We need a little color, we need a little personality, and he brings tons of it. But the garage kind of will police it a little bit. To your point, Corey, nobody’s really stepped to him just yet, but I think he might have messed with the wrong guy tonight.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. asserted.
How did Carson Hocevar defended himself?
These criticism from the HOF duo came after Hocevar gave a cold reply to questions about the incident on his post-race interview. The youngster pointed out that he didn’t slow down when the No:47 Chevy got ahead of his as he thought there was enough space and pace to get then clear.

That like, I felt like I was there enough, right, to get a call inside and have him kind of just run the middle. Honestly, probably could have cleared me. So, that’s just what I expected him to do, and he didn’t. And by the time I checked up, I almost spun too.
Carso Hocevar said.
Further talking about the point, Hocevar added that he is ready to talk it out with the veteran, but refused to take blame for the incident, as he blamed it on situations. His comments seem to indicate it is nothing more than just a racing incident.
So, yeah, if he wants to talk, I’ll be glad to talk. I feel like it’s just a product of this, unfortunately. Just everybody just kind of tries to get there. I think there were a bunch of people that got shipped that either didn’t wreck or did get wrecked.
Carson Hocevar added.
The reply from Hocevar is inviting of more troubles as pointed out by the HOF duo. The NASCAR garage won’t forget his actions and when he gets in the receiving end of such situations, he will not get the benefit of doubt from his compatriots.
