Carson Hocevar has emerged as one of the most aggressive drivers on the current NASCAR grid. The 22-year-old is often involved in multiple on-track wrecks and incidents due to his racing style. Although this has caused some negativity towards Hocevar, he isn’t planning on changing his style anytime soon. The Spire Motorsports star had doored Michael McDowell after the culmination of the Watkins Glen race which caused some sore eyes on the former.
During the Cup race, Michael McDowell collided into Carson Hocevar‘s car heading into Turn 1. This caused Hocevar to lose control of his car and go off spinning. The 22-year-old did not go into the walls and could continue his race to ultimately finish in P18. As such, the #77 driver was left fuming and intentionlly doored into McDowell’s car after crossing the finish line.
Carson Hocevar has received a lot of hate in the past, but he was unfazed even this time around. Hocevar doesn’t necessarily want to make up with Michael McDowell following their fiasco at Watkins Glen. The 22-year-old noted that he did not talk or make up with McDowell yet. However, the #71 driver did try to clear the air by meeting up at Richmond and discussing the matter.
Still, Carson Hocevar wants no part in this as he insisted that the two of them went racing and were just involved in a silly incident. Hence, Hocevar reckoned that maybe it was for the best that they two did not meet up and try to sort out the matter. The 22-year-old tried to neutralize the fight by pointing out that he did not think of the incident to be that big of a deal.
No, we haven’t talked or whatever, He wanted to sit down at Richmond. I’m gone racing and he’s gone as well. So it’s just, sometimes, maybe it’s best case scenario that we’re both gone. But it didn’t seem like that big of a deal to me.
Carson Hocevar said in an interview with Toby Christie.
Carson Hocevar claims Michael McDowell ‘made a mistake’ at Watkins Glen
Both Michael McDowell and Carson Hocevar were fighting in the top 20 before their incident occured at around Lap 52. Neither of the drivers suffered from any serious consequences following their coming together. However, the incident was enough to get Hocevar agitated towards McDowell. As such, the 22-year-old asserted that the #71 driver was the one to blame as he made a mistake.

Carson Hocevar did not mince his words while clarifiying his side of the story. Hocevar reckoned that Michael McDowell either made a mistake and misjudged or plainly just turned into him. Hence, following McDowell’s ‘mistake’, the #77 driver felt that it was fair to do whatever he did around the final corner on the final lap.
Either he made a mistake or misjudged and obviously turned me, And then we were just fighting for the last lap and last corner and felt like that was plenty OK to do considering the contact, right? I can play defense for one corner to try to get the spot.
Carson Hocevar noted.
From Carson Hocevar’s demeanor, it is evident that he has no regrets for the events that unfolded at the main event at Watkins Glen. Hocevar is likely to keep up with his aggresive side, as it has helped him score some impressive results. As such, it is only a matter of time before he starts fighting for race wins and turn the haters into his admirers.
