Spire Motorsports’ Carson Hocevar found himself in hot waters after his over aggressive moves at Atalanta Motor Speedway. Joe Gibbs Racing veteran Denny Hamlin was one of the many to call out the No:77 Chevy driver, as the three times Daytona 500 champion labelled him an idiot for the overtime move that wrecked Christopher Bell.

On his appearance on the Gluckcast podcast of Jeff Gluck, the Chevy driver was asked about the criticism from Denny Hamlin as well as other prominent figures of the sport. In response, Carson Hocevar asserted that he didn’t do anything to make a buzz and mocked the critics for the comment using WWE analogy.

I mean, I see it just because I’m a race fan. I watch all the shows and listen in, but I’m not out there driving and going, ‘Ah, I wanna sell some more t-shirts. I’m gonna split this hole, or I’m gonna make this move and, yeah, they’ll talk about that in the interview, ah, did you see that? Did you see what I did and cut a WWE promo.’

Carson Hocevar said via the Gluckcast podcast.

Furthermore, he asserted that on the race track, he will take any opportunities to earn track positions and he doesn’t care about the outside noise. He sees the opinion from senior NASCAR figures on podcasts and shows more in the entertainment perspective.

I don’t know, I’m just racing. I’m out there, I see opportunities and this is all I think about. This is what I do. The rest is noise, and I laugh at it sometimes, or I see it but there’s not one bit where I look at any podcast or anything — I just look at it and go, ‘That’s just entertainment.’ The rest is all competition, and I separate it.

Carson Hocevar breaks silence on Hendrick Motorsports rumors

In a conversation with Kenny Wallace recently, Carson Hocevar talked about the long-time rumors that he will eventually move to Hendrick Motorsports once he matures as racer. Fans are right to make that assumption considering HMS is the top Chevy team and Spire is one of the tier-B teams with no real championship potential.

Hocevar was quick to slam these discussions, as he pointed out that he has a long-term contract with Spire. He is planning to race for the team till the next decade. The youngster joked that he said in the contract negotiations that he wants to race for Jeff Dickerson till he had a pulse.

I mean, I signed a very long-term paper at Spire. I am there for the next decade. I asked in the contract negotiations, I think I asked during the negotiations basically if it could just not even say year, it would just be like, ‘If I have a pulse I’ll race for Jeff Dickerson.’

Carson Hocevar said.

The comments from the youngster shows the clear dedication he has for the team and for a small team like Spire to have their number one driver shows this level of commitment is a massive win. It helps them to plan long-terms and attract more sponsors. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for them in the coming days.
