The second race of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season at Atlanta Motor Speedway was a wild affair. Spire Motorsports’ Carson Hocevar, who finished the race P2 behind winner Christopher Bell, was the standout driver the day mainly due to his aggressive racing that pissed off the likes of Kyle Busch, Ryan Blaney and Ross Chastain.

The No:77 Chevy driver shared his feelings about the whole drama following another impressive qualifying session. At COTA when asked about how he feels about the criticism he has received over the aggressive style, Carson Hocevar asserted that he is going to drive the same was as he has been always doing over throughout his career.

You know I just like racing and I’m there to race and I’m excited to race here, and I’m excited to have fast race cars. I’m going to continue to try and do that. So, it’s been a lot of fun and you know, been a lot of positives from Hendrick Motorsports to Chevy and most importantly, my team.

Carson Hocevar said at COTA.

He went onto declare that he is racing for himself and a little bit for Spire, as he doesn’t think, he owns anything to anyone else. His primary focus has always been winning races for his team, as he is getting avoid for it.

So, I race for me, myself, and I and you know, obviously a little bit for Spire Motorsports for sure. That’s what they pay me to do and that’s what we’re here to do and we’re here to win races.

Ahead of the COTA weekend Carson Hocevar’s boss also came in for the defense of the racer. Dan Towriss, the co-owner of Spire, asserted that Hocevar isn’t blindly wrecking anyone and claimed the criticism is usual when a driver comes along that uses aggression wisely.

This happens every time there’s a young, aggressive driver that comes along. … Are there things that Carson needs to learn? Yeah. This is his second year. He’s not out there wrecking people, doing things like that.

The comments from bossman shows they are ready to give everything to help their driver succeed and is ready to defund him from criticism. Hocevar has already started to repay for the trust by securing strong finishes in the last two races and it will be interesting to see how he will perform the coming races.
