Stewart Haas Racing has been showing signs of comeback in the last few races in the Cup Series, but at Kansas their lead driver Chase Briscoe had a stinger. The only good session he had the whole weekend was the practice session on Friday, as the team missed the mark on car balance in the remaining sessions.

After qualifying inside the top-10 on Saturday, Chase Briscoe was expecting a strong day, before things went south with the balance of No:16 Ford Mustang Dark Horse. What’s more disappointing for the driver is the fact that his teammate Noah Gragson secured a P9 and Josh Berry a P15 on Sunday’s race.

We just weren’t very good for whatever reason. Yesterday in practice, I thought our car was pretty good. I didn’t feel like it was a race-winning car per say, but I felt like it was going to be in the mix for the top-10. We qualified inside the top-10, but when the race started, our car didn’t drive anything like it did in practice...we definitely just fought the balance all day long.
Chase Briscoe said via NBC.

The ex-Xfinity Series champion understands that having such poor points day is not good for the teams’ playoff ambitions considering they are still not yet a contender for wins and there is only 14 more races left in the regular season. But the driver is hopeful he could make a comeback considering the upcoming races are in tracks where he has run well in the past.

Chase Briscoe’s teammate Noah Gragson rejoices the good weekend

Unlike his teammates, the whole weekend was really good for Noah Gragson, who started the race in the top-5. He is happy how the day ended for them despite some trouble midway through the race and is hopeful they could repeat such performances in the coming weekends.

I thought we had a really good Mustang all weekend. We qualified third and was fourth in practice and then come home ninth tonight. Overall, a really good weekend.
Noah Gragson said.

SHR is slowly but surely making a comeback, but the team has to speed up more. If they want to secure playoff, they should increase the pace of their current development path and filed cars worthy of race wins. Chase Briscoe, Josh Berry and Noah Gragson are driver that can give them the wins if given the right cars.
