Stewart Haas Racing began its operations in 2009 after Tony Stewart and Gene Haas agreed to form a coalition. The team then acquired 69 career victories in the Cup Series and two driver’s championships, but its owners on Tuesday announced that the organization would come to an end this year and cease operations. Following this, No.14 driver Chase Briscoe shared a heartfelt message.
Entering the 2024 season, SHR lost its eight primary sponsors and the team looked not so stable financially. Moreover, the team had won only three races in the past two years and the pressure was piling on from the owners. With the increasing workload on SHR personnel and the North Carolina-based team losing more sponsors day by day, its owners decided to cease operations after the conclusion of the 2024 season.
Subsequently, Chase Briscoe shared an emotional message on X. The Ford driver made his debut in the Cup series with SHR and was leading the front there. However, with this unforeseen situation, the 29-year-old was shaken and claimed that he never thought that his team would close its operations. On the other hand, he wished that all the SHR personnel would be able to land a job somewhere else on the field as the team’s desolvation could mean rough times ahead for such engineers and workers.
I never thought this day would come you know I've been in Stewart Haas for the last seven years now it's truthfully became like home to me and feels like a family and just what an incredible group of men and women at this place that just make it feel like home and just make you enjoy coming to work each and every day. I just hope that all the guys and gals have this place you know find a great opportunity because each and every single person here deserves it you know just incredible group of people and that of all put in so much hard work and effort and just sacrificed so much for me to be able to live out my dream of you know, driving race cars and winning at the highest level.Chase Briscoe shared on X.
Chase Briscoe claims his future to be uncertain
Despite worrying about his colleague’s future, Briscoe’s future himself seems to be in a shadow realm. The 29-year-old was understood to be contracted with the Stewart Haas Racing until the end of 2025. However, with the changing of the landscape, his future seems to be uncertain.
Reflecting on his dire situation, the Cup series race winner admitted that he has no plans regarding his future. He reckons that he would be able to land a seat elsewhere on the field but his future remains unclear after SHR’s shock announcement.
I have no idea what I'm doing going forward. It's going to be interesting time these next couple of weeks just trying to find even what's available out there. Hopefully can land on my feet and continue to race in the Cup series so I appreciate all the support all the love.Chase Briscoe shared on X.
Despite this shocking news, the No. 14 driver would be eager to increase the tally of his top-five finishes so far this season in Illinois as he has a solitary top-five finish this season. Thus, he would be a driver to look for in the 300-mile race as he drives to secure his future in the Cup series.
