I'm glad my ankles didn’t get messed up. The brake pedal and everything went through the floorboard, so I’m thankful that I’m alright, for sure.Chase Briscoe said as reported by Jeff Gluck on X.
While later talking about the incident to NBC, Briscoe admitted that the incident was the biggest hit he has ever had and is thankful he survived with no injury. But he has already moved on and is determined to prove himself at Glen and Bristol like he did at Darlington Raceway regular season finale race.
It was a big hit. One of the biggest hits I’ve had in a long time. I’m glad I’m alright and we just have to go win. That’s what we had to do at Darlington and I know we’re capable of doing it again, so we’ll just have to go to Watkins Glen and Bristol and try to do the same.Chase Briscoe said via NBC.
Chase Briscoe claims it was an unfortunate incident for him
While discussing the whole drama, Chase Briscoe pointed out that the incident was very unfortunate for him as he was in apposition to get better in the race. He pointed out that with a balance adjustment he could have bagged a good result, but the incident ruined it for him.
You can be on top one week and you can be at the very bottom of the mountain the next week. It’s unfortunate. I thought our car was an adjustment away from being pretty good. We weren’t very good at all balance-wise and I still felt like I was able to kind of run right there around the seventh to 12th place guys.Chase Briscoe said via NBC.
He also revealed later that the incident had to with his lack of concentration as well because he spotted the Larson wreck very late as he wasn’t expecting any incidents at that moment. Now the SHR team has to put on extra work next-week to make sure their driver can make it to R12.
