Ahead of the New Hampshire Cup race Christopher Bell accidently confirmed that current Stewart Haas Racing driver Chase Briscoe has signed a deal with JGR in an accidental slip-up. Now in a special press-conference Bell officially confirmed the that the former Xfinity Series champion Briscoe will replace Martin Truex Jr. for 2024.

The deal between Joe Gibbs Racing and Chase Briscoe was signed during the Sonoma race weekend and the team was just delaying the announcement to get all other affairs in order. Now during the announcement event, the youngster spoke to the media about how he broke the news to his boss Tony Stewart at SHR.

After signing the deal, Briscoe called Stewart and after thanking him for the opportunities he gave him, informed that he has signed a deal with JGR. The former NASCAR champion wasn’t expecting that move from his driver and was really excited to see him getting a championship worthy seat for the 2025 season.

I said, well, you don't need to. I actually signed a deal yesterday. He goes, oh, the front row deal? I said, no, it's not a front row deal. He goes, oh, the Wood Brothers? I said, no, not the Wood Brothers. And he said, well, what is it? I said, I'm going to go to Gibbs. And he was like ecstatic. And it was really cool to see how excited he was for me.

While further talking about the topic, he asserted that his SHR crew is really happy to see him having a solid seat for the 2025 season. Some of them are looking forward to maybe move from SHR to JGR with him, and Briscoe is seeking the same opportunity as well.

They're all pretty fired up for me and trying to just figure out a way, maybe a couple of them guys can fit in over here. And obviously, all of them are going to be looking for jobs. So, they're a great group. And hopefully, we can get some of them over here.

It is possible that as Briscoe wishes some crew members will make their way into JGR, but the number will really be limited as the Toyota team has a solid crew for the No:19 Toyota. It would be really interesting to see how many SHR employees can remain in the Cup series next-season.
