The NASCAR in-season tournament adds a twist to the regular season. Drivers get bunched up in a single elimination system. With 32 drivers going head-to-head to take a $1 million grand prize. Now, HMS star Chase Elliot has revealed his plans to stake claim on this massive prize.
The challenge is set to begin at Elliot’s home race in Atlanta on June 28. With four more races involved before fans can finally see the winner. Drivers will be paired up in a duel. The driver who manages to defeat their partner during the race, will move to the next round. This will finally come down to a single winner by the Indianapolis weekend on July 27.
Chase Elliot had a rather calm approach to the in-season tournament. Despite the immense hype surrounding the event, the No. 9 driver was going to stress over the elimination system. Elliot asserted that he and his team will be aiming to get good results. If he manages to keep improving, he will automatically find himself in the mix of the in-season challenge.
That’s kind of my approach to all those things. It just does not do you any good to worry about those things. Our expectations and our goals are to try and be amongst those teams that have opportunities to win regularly. You know, if you’re doing that, you’re going to get your turn.
Chase Elliot said, via Speedway Digest.
Moreover, the NASCAR star seemed unfazed even if things did not go in his favor. The HMS star admitted that if he didn’t get results, he would inevitably lose out on the challenge, and that would be the end of the story. Thus, it seems that Chase Elliot is not going to put too much focus on the $1 million prize, rather he will simply be going to fight for wins on-track.
And if you’re not, then you won’t. It’s really that simple. I think that if your goals and your expectations are in a high enough place and where they should be, the stuff that goes on the side will sort itself out, and that’s kind of how I’ll view that, as well.

Chase Elliot opens up on Playoff prospects amid winless run
Elliot has had an interesting campaign so far. The 29-year-old has failed to win a single race this season but has remained consistent. This has allowed the HMS star to sit in fifth place in the standings despite a winless run. As such, Chase Elliot has found himself way above the Playoff cut-off line.

The No. 9 driver was asked about his peculiar situation in the standings. Chase Elliot was glad to be comfortably within the Playoff cut-off line. However, the HMS star admitted that he was not so focused about his prospects in getting into the Playoffs. Rather, Elliot pointed out that things would be in a dire state if he was worried about narrowly making it to the final stage of the season.
Certainly better to be in that position than on the other side of the fence, no doubt. But I’d be lying if I said that was my top focus. It’s just not. I think that if you’re worried about barely getting into the playoffs, I think you have some work to do. It really is kind of the best way I can think about that.
Chase Elliot explained.
It seems that Chase Elliot is not satisfied with the way his 2025 campaign is going. The HMS star is a born winner who does not like to lose. Despite having achieved some consistent results, the lack of even a single victory bugs the 29-year-old. Until Elliot does not manage to put an end to his winless run, he is unlikely to focus on how his prospects look for the Playoffs.
