Ahead of the race weekend at Iowa Speedway Cup race, Martin Truex Jr. ended all the uncertainties over his future and confirmed that he will retire at the end of his 2024 season. JGR has already signed SHR driver Chase Briscoe as the replacement of the veteran driver in the No:19 Toyota Camry from 2025 and beyond.

Now Joe Gibbs Racing star driver Christopher Bell, who won the last weekend race at New Hampshire, talked about his feelings about Martin Truex Jr. he asserted that for him the 2017 champion is an idol and a role model. Bell wants to end his career by amassing the same level of success as Truex Jr.

He is my idol, my role model and he’s the guy that I want to be similar to whenever I get to be 30-40 years old. I guess I already am 30. That’s depressing. But whenever I get to be older in my Cup career, I’ve told Martin this time and time again, but what I respect the heck out of him for is he does himself.

He went onto highlight the character of Martin Truex Jr. who only cares about just wining races and being the best driver on the track. Bell finds it really awesome that the veteran driver for achieving all of his success in his won way.

He cares about winning races, being the best driver that he can be and that’s it. He’s doing it for himself at his own way, and I just think that’s awesome.

Social media and marketing oneself have become a huge part of the sport. But unlike many in the racing community Bell, just like Truex Jr., isn’t a huge fan of them. The JGR driver wants to be known as a great race car driver.

But myself, Christopher Bell, I want to be known as the race car driver Christopher Bell, how good of a race car driver I am. I don’t want to be known for selling myself on social media. I want to be a race car driver. That’s who I am, that’s who I want to be. I respect Martin because that’s who Martin is.

If there is one driver who Bell, with his personality and attitude towards racing, can see as an idol it’s Martin Truex Jr. With their time together has teammate, Bell has enough time to learn more from him and change his racing as a whole with inspiration from it.
