Hendrick Motorsports’ 2021 NASCAR Cup Series championship winning driver Kyle Larson is seen by many as the best racer in the current grid, owing to his dominance and consistency over the years. Even Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell, who is considered as one of the biggest rivals of the Chevy driver, due to their share history in junior division, has the same feeling.

In his recent appearance in The Driver’s Project Podcast, Christopher Bell explained what makes Kyle Larson unique. He pointed out that they are opposite when it comes to both lifestyle as well as racing style, despite having a very similar career path. The No:5 chevy driver always races on the verge of out of control unlike most of the risk averse racers.

One thing that’s unique about Kyle is, or our dynamic, is we are kind of opposite. Like I talked about his lifestyle a little bit and that kind of translates to the racetrack. Like Kyle is just this guy that’s right foot down, like letting her hang out, like just on the verge of out of control at all times.

Christopher Bell said via The Driver’s Project Podcast.

He claimed that Kyle Larson 100% is most often the 120% of his rivals, giving him an unparallel advantage on the track. This factor enables him to race faster than the rest and make riskier moves on the track.

And I’ve always said that that’s Kyle’s strength of his 100% is everyone else’s like 120. And that’s how he’s allowed to, you know, get such good pace out of his car and make the moves that he makes.

Christopher Bell added.

Christopher Bell shares difference between his and Kyle Larson’s racing style

And my style, my driving style is just much more calculated and being precise and smooth. And our styles are just completely different. And if you look back at the, you know, the shootout like that was a really good example of it, right?

Christopher Bell said.

The comments from Christopher Bell shows the major difference between the two is risk taking and this factor might be the one thing that is holding him back from performing on the same level as Larson. It would be interesting to see how their rivalry going to evolve in the coming years.
