The 2024 NASCAR Cup season so far has been a career best start to the season for Joe Gibbs Racing driver Christopher Bell. He came into the season hoping for redemption after his championship dreams got ruined twice in the Next-Gen era because of car issues. Bell has scored three wins this season and has placed himself as a solid title contender.

While all other drivers are coming into this weekend’s race at Richmond recharged with the hopes re-starting the season strong, Christopher Bell might be coming in bit tensed. His crew chief Adam Stevens would miss several of the coming race weeks, after ‘a double knee injury during a recent family vacation.’

He would have to work online instead of traveling with the team. This would create a significant issue for the No:20 team, as the crew chief being physically present at and being them to make importance decision without delay during the race really helps the team. In Stevens absence, his fellow crew members take up the charge and work with him to erase any potential issues.

Car chief Chris Sherwood is given the responsibility of taking care of the on-track responsibilities from Richmond while Stevens would guide him from JGR headquarters. It’s a great opportunity for Sherwood to showcase his prowess and make his case for any future premotions within the Joe Gibbs Racing umbrella.

The tier option being is going to be implemented for the first time in a point at Richmond this coming week. Bell sees this as the difference maker going into the weekend and the drivers will have a lot to work on during the practice session.

Richmond is going to be a little bit different this time around with the option tire being introduced to points racing. Nobody is quite sure how it’s going to go, but I’m sure we will learn a lot in our practice session on Saturday.
Christopher Bell said.

The Toyota driver is hopeful that as his crew chief asserted his physical absence won’t be an issue at Richmond. It would be interesting to see how he would navigate the tough times in the coming few weeks.
