Joe Gibbs Racing produced an historic performance in the 2025 Playoff R-16, as they swept the round, with all three of their championship chasers getting in the victory lane. Chase Briscoe won at Darlington, Denny Hamlin at Gateway and Christopher Bell last Saturday at Bristol. They have the best momentum than anyone at the moment, but still there is one track that gives Bell some chills.
Ahead of the New Hampshire Cup Series race Christopher Bell shared his thoughts about the coming races and admitted that he is a bit fearful about the Talladega race. It will the second race of the R-8 and has been the championship-4 decider every season since the start of the Next-Gen era. It has always been a tough track for him.
Talladega has always been the toughest one. Last year, we had Atlanta in there, so certainly this year the additions of Gateway and Loudon into the playoffs were something that I was super excited about.
Christopher Bell said via Cup Scene on YouTube.
In the same conversation, Bell pointed out that he doesn’t understand why, but the iconic Superspeedway has always been one of his toughest venues. He has found it hard to survive the chaos of Dega. His average finish of P20 at the track shows it’s not his best, but at the same time he has showed signs of good run there with a pole win in the past as well.
And, yeah, Talladega has been the one that’s always the fearful one for me, and I don’t know if it’s good or bad that it’s later on in the year this year. Surviving Talladega, that’s been the hardest part every year
Christopher Bell asserted.
The Joe Gibbs Racing star driver is confused about if the race is coming late in the playoffs is going to be good or bad for him. If he can get early win and make it into the playoffs, its good, but if he had to go to the Dega weekend under pressure there will be some negativity. He is looking forward to see how everything going to playout for he and his team.
I don’t know if it’s fortunately or unfortunately, now it’s moved a little bit later on in the schedule. So, fortunately, I don’t have to deal with it now. Unfortunately, and hopefully, I have to deal with it later.
Christopher Bell added.
Christopher Bell declares all Toyota drivers are capable of going deep in the playoffs
The No:20 teams fight is not just with the rivals in the playoff as his JGR teammates as well as Toyota teammates are in high flying form as well. Hamlin and Briscoe have produced better runs than him. 23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick have also been super consistent since the start of the playoff. All of them are capable of making a deep run.

I think that all of us, myself, Denny [Hamlin] and Chase [Briscoe]—even Bubba [Wallace] and Tyler [Reddick]—all of the Toyotas, they’re going to have speed. We’re going to be capable, so you’ve just got to dot your i’s and cross your t’s and do your job.

The comments from the Joe Gibbs Racing driver shows he understands how tough the battles ahead are going to be for him and is determined to triumph under pressure, to chase down his maiden Cup Series championship. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the TRD team in the coming weeks.
