Christopher Bell thinks ‘he has the ability to win’ at Richmond Raceway given the ‘robust road course program’ at Joe Gibbs Racing

Christopher Bell

Christopher Bell competes full-time in Cup Series driving the No.20 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing. He is pretty confident about his performance at this weeks’ race at Richmond Raceway.

Christopher Bell has had a pretty obscene season so far with only one top 10 and two disqualifications with a P26 at Phoenix Raceway and a P23 on the Atlanta Motor Speedway and a career-best P3 during the Echopark Automotive Texas Grand Prix on COTA last week.

The P3 at COTA didn’t come easy as he was struggling with steering issues mid-race but eventually kept up after nearly missing a disastrous mishap with No.2 Ford Team Penske driver Austin Cindric. He currently stands 23rd in the Cup Series points table.

“Richmond is one of my best race tracks coming up, so I think we all have high hopes with that,” says Christopher Bell

Christopher Bell has a P3 and a P4 finish in the Cup Series at Richmond Raceway and three Xfinity Series victories at this 0.75-mile short track. He feels that with fast cars, you can achieve the pole you want, and when it comes to JGR’s road-course strategy, it is really strong and they weren’t as strong as they are but Bell feels that he is capable enough to go put out a good show given the resources and him enjoying when he races.

“I think it all boils down to having really fast race cars to drive, being at JGR, their road-course program is very strong. Last week was no exception. We weren’t as strong as we typically are, but we still have all the resources to go out there and run well. I enjoy it and drivers will be able to showcase their talent,” said Christopher Bell.

He further added saying that he has the potential as any of the other drivers and given that Richmond is his best track he has high hopes for it. He concluded by saying that he is happy to have good cars to drive on Richmond Raceway and that the team looks forward every year to racing on that track and that is a track that’s always been his happy place to race.

“I think we have potential to run as good as any of them, Richmond is one of my best race tracks coming up, so I think we all have high hopes with that. “I hate to keep harping on it, but it’s just that I have really good race cars to drive there,” It’s one that we definitely look forward to coming to a year in and year out,” concluded Christopher Bell.

Will Christopher Bell emerge victorious this year at Richmond Raceway to make his career-best position on the track?
