The NASCAR Cup Series race at Phoenix Raceway saw Christopher Bell making history by becoming the first driver over half a decade to win three Cup events in a raw. His streak started with a lucky break at Atlanta, and he took advantage of the momentum to secure his latest win and is one of the favorites going into this Sunday’s race at Las Vegas.

The racing community has been supporting Christopher Bell on his chase to make history and recently he revealed the special support he got from Jimmie Johnson. The seven times Cup champion has been texting the No:20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota driver after his every win extending his support, and Bell cherishes it more than anything.

So, it’s still the coolest thing in the world to me that I have Jimmie Johnson in my phone, and he has [reached out] He has talked to me, he has sent me a text message after every win so far, and it is just, I’m still shocked every time I see his name pop up.

Christopher Bell said ahead of Las Vegas race.

The Legacy MC co-owner is someone the Toyota Racing Development driver grew up watching and idolizing. So, connecting with a legend, who he respects more than anyone, is a really special moment as well as a pretty cool moment.

I respect the heck out of him and just, it’s an honor to know that he thinks of me after the race to shoot me a text message. That’s so cool. So, yeah, he has, we have connected, yes.

Christopher Bell admits his wins aren’t impressive as it is perceived

In a separate conversation, Bell admitted that his wins aren’t as impressive as they seem owing to William Byron. The Hendrick Motorsports driver has been the most consistent in the last four races, as this helped him to lead the points table despite just winning the Daytona 500.

While talking about the factor, Bell pointed out that he sees the points format as cool and understands that it rewards drivers for running well throughout the entire race. He admitted that he has gotten great finishes, not dominant races, over the last three weeks.

I’ve had a couple people ask me that same question throughout the week and I genuinely think that the points format is really cool the way that it is because it rewards running well throughout the entire race. I’ve gotten great finishes and won the races, but at Atlanta, I led one lap, and at COTA, I led nine laps. … Byron has scored more stage points than me.

Christopher Bell said.

The HMS No:24 team has been performing on the same level as his JGR rival and the lack of the same level of luck is the reason behind him not having more wins. The evolution of the Bell-Byron rivalry is something good for the sport long-term.

Christopher Bell is content with point system

The Joe Gibbs Racing star driver shared his feelings about the point system and admitted that he is content with the point system. He pointed out that he isn’t a point leader because he hasn’t secured much stage points and hasn’t led enough races.

I’m content with the point system and understand the reason why I’m not leading the points is because I haven’t scored stage points. I think it will sort itself out once we get more races into the regular season, where the cream will rise to the top and the guys who score the most points will be at the front.

Christopher Bell said.

The JGR driver is hopeful that he can get back to being the dominant racer in the coming races of the regular season. It would be interesting to see how the racer will perform in the upcoming Cup races of the 2025 season.
