The 2024 season marked the end of legendary NASCAR Cup Series team Stewart Haas Racing as they are ceasing their operations at the end of this year. Previously it was believed SHR will sell all of it’s charters as both Tony Stewart and Gene Haas will be leaving the sports forever. But now it’s confirmed Haas isn’t fully exiting the Cup series.
Gene Haas will stay in the Cup series by keeping one of the four SHR charters and converting that to Hass Factory team, which will operate out of their current race-shop. Current Xfinity Series champion Cole Custer, who now drives the No:00 Ford in the second tier, is reportedly the front-runner for the seat, which is set to be run by his father Joe Custer.

While talking about returning to the premier division after his three-year disaster Cup stint and Xfinity redemption, Custer admitted that it would be dream come true to drive for Haas again. He be lives him making the most out of the Xfinity Series opportunity will help him to land the Cup seat in the 2025 season.
Yeah, I mean, I’d love to. You know, that’s what my career has been I guess is it’s always tied to – that relationship. I think you know what Gene Haas has done in this sport and you know it would be a dream come true to get to run that Cup car. I’ve tried to go back to the Xfinity Series to prove what I can do and try and make the most of it and you just kind of try and hope it all sorts itself out.Cole Custer said via the USA broadcast.
NASCAR insider reckons Cole Custer has a solid shot to land the Haas seat
Senior Fox Sports journalist Bob Pockrass in a rent X post confirmed that Cole Custer will most probably land the Haas Factory seat as he has a sponsorship deal with Haas. He also predicted that Haas might use an alliance deal with Front Raw Motorsports.

Would think Cole Custer, since he's already sponsored by Haas, would have solid shot at this Cup ride (if Haas didn't retain a charter, would think more possible Custer to Front Row w/Haas sponsorship). Whether team has alliance, assembles its own cars, etc.Bob Pockrass wrote on X.
Regardless of the results, there is a huge chance that Cole Custer would be landing a Cup seat sooner that later as he is having some good outings in the second tier and has previous Cup experience. It would be interesting to see how the season would playout for him.
