Chase Briscoe has followed veteran teammate Denny Hamlin to the 2025 Championship-4 race with an impressive win on Sunday at Talladega. He took advantage of the overtime restart, due to Kyle Larson running out of fuel at the end, with the solid push from his Toyota teammates to secure his third win of the 2025 season.
Unlike the Martin Truex Jr. days in the Next-Gen ear where the No:19 team fades into insignificance as the playoffs comes to a close, in his debut year with the team Chase Briscoe has made them one of the front runners. Ex-Cup racer Corey LaJoie is already convinced that the TRD driver is the championship favorite, even with Denny Hamlin on dominating form.
Chase Briscoe is the championship favorite.

Talking about the victory, the ex-Stewart Haas Racing driver asserted that winning at Talladega and making into the season finale is a dream come true moment for him and he feels blessed about the opportunity, thanking God for getting him the JGR seat. He seems blessed considering he has been one of the most consistent drivers this season as he has scored most top-5s than anyone.
Yeah, absolutely [this is a dream come true]. So thankful that the Lord has blessed me opening doors and even closing doors at times. But certainly, he opened an incredible door for me here at Joe Gibbs Racing.
Chase Briscoe said after the race (Via NBC Sports).
Further talking about the point, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver shared how he was feeling inside in the last laps of the race. He admitted that despite having good pace, he was nervous and scared to death. Briscoe is the driver with the most momentum with two more races left in the season and is one of the strongest contenders to win the title.
Today, I had such a peace. I’m scared to death, a nervous wreck around this place, but I just had such a peace that regardless of the finish, he was gonna use it somehow for his glory, and it’s pretty cool that it ends up in Victory Lane.
Chase Briscoe added.
Chase Briscoe credits Ty Gibbs for the Talladega victory
The major reason for the Toyota drivers’ success at Talladega was his teammate, Ty Gibbs. The No:54 Toyota teammate gives him the best push the situation demanded and decided to help him win, instead of using him up and securing the win for himself.

Ty Gibbs, just incredible teammate there. I honestly would not have won that race without Ty. Just an amazing team effort. I can’t believe I won a superspeedway race, I haven’t done it at any level.
Chase Briscoe told Marty Snider of NBC Sports.
The fact that it’s his maiden Superspeedway race win the Cup level makes it special and winning it in front of a packed crowd is the cherry on the cake. The credit should also go for the No:19 and his sponsor, Bass Pro Shops.
Thank you, guys, so much, every time we come to Talladega this place is sold out. Unbelievable atmosphere, I cannot believe I won here. Johnny Morris is here with Bass Pro Shops and yeah, it’s not hit me, we’re going to Phoenix.
Chase Briscoe added.
The comments from the star driver proves, he wasn’t expecting such an impressive debut year with Joe Gibbs Racing and coming closer to the Cup title he has ever been makes the season already a massive success for them. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the star driver in the season finale.
