Carson Hocevar has established himself as one of the most promising drivers in the Cup Series. The 22-year-old has not been afraid of challenging some big names on the field. His aggressive approach has divided opinions in NASCAR. However, Dale Earnhardt Jr. believes that Hocevar has indeed shown glimpses of brilliance.
It is not unusual for drivers to gain an unpopular reputation in NASCAR. Often, drivers receive backlash from their colleagues in the field or critics for being too aggressive. Carson Hocevar does fit the bill in this regard.
However, Dale Jr. claimed that the Spire Motorsports star reminded him of none other than his father Dale Earnhardt. Earnhardt was a legend of NASCAR, who went on to clinch seven Cup Series titles, albeit was not the most loved figure in the garage. Carson Hocevar seemed to be reminiscent of Earnhardt’s 1979 title-winning campaign.
Dale Jr. pointed out that the 22-year-old was not afraid of pushing himself to the limit, no matter how his rivals reacted to his antics. Thus, the 50-year-old hinted that Hocevar will go on to become a star in the sport.
Carson, I even said in a clip on Dirty Mo Media, I think the guy reminds me of a 1979 Dale Earnhardt. Fast, not scared to use his front bumper, don’t care if somebody gets mad about it and on the verge of becoming a star. That’s exactly how I saw dad around that timeframe in his career.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. had some important pieces of advice for Carson Hocevar. He insisted that the 22-year-old must not back down from his aggressive way of racing, considering how his father went on to achieve incredible success in NASCAR. Dale Jr. further claimed that this style of racing is also loved by fans of the Spire Motorsports star.
And I say that to maybe encourage Carson to continue what he’s doing because Dale Earnhardt ended up becoming a seven-time champion. That aggressive style was something that endeared him to a lot of people. You can see a lot of people enjoy that as well out of Carson.

Carson Hocevar receives warning from NASCAR rival
At the Nashville weekend, Carson Hocevar had another controversial outing. The 22-year-old managed to clinch second place in the race, matching his career-best in the Cup Series. However, Hocevar slammed into the back of Ricky Stenhouse Jr.‘s car in Stage 2 of the race. Now, Stenhouse Jr. has warned the Spire Motorsports star about a potential confrontation.

Following the race, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. informed the media that he was yet to hear from Carson Hocevar regarding the incident. The NASCAR veteran pointed out that a driver usually calls their colleague quickly after making a mistake during a race. But this has not been the case for Hocevar. Stenhouse Jr. made it clear that if the 22-year-old did not reach out to him, he could face a confrontation soon.
I’ve been in this sport a long time and if you make a mistake like that, you generally pick up the phone as quick as you can, especially if you feel bad about it. If you don’t, you just roll on with it. No, I’ve not gotten a call from him… If I don’t hear from him by the weekend, I’ll probably confront him, and we’ll figure it out.

Carson Hocevar might have Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s blessings, but that will not be enough to justify his racing style. The Spire Motorsports driver must know how to manage close contests and avoid wrecks against his rivals. Aggressive driving is often appreciated in the racing world. However, one must know the fine line between a wheel-to-wheel battle and an inevitable wreck-like situation.
