One of the biggest questions that are in the mind of the NASCAR fans this season is the uncertainty over the future of Joe Gibbs Racing’s Martin Truex Jr. The 2017 NASCAR Cup Series champion has been teasing his retirement from the start of the Next-Gen era, and with his contract running out this season hasn’t yet made the final decision.
If Martin Truex Jr. decides to retire, Joe Gibbs Racing doesn’t have the best junior drivers to replace him. So, the team might look into replacing the No:19 driver with an experienced campaigner like Erik Jones and young racer like Noah Gragson. The latter is available in the market following SHR’s decision to cease operations.
But according to NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. this move for the ex-TRD driver won’t pan out, because of the beef the exit between Ty Gibbs and Gragson. The duo had one of the fiercest championship fights in 2022, where the JGR driver came out victorious over Gragson who was driving fort Junior’s team.
I think one of those drivers that would be considered is Noah Gragson, because of his connection to Bass Pro Shop. Bass Pro spends a lot of money on Martin’s car, the No. 19. I think that they would probably say to Joe Gibbs, I’ll pitch in a little bit more, if Noah can be considered. I think the problem is, I’m not sure how favorable Joe and Ty Gibbs would be to having Noah as a teammate.Dale Earnhardt Jr said via Dale Jr. Download.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. responds to rumors around old DEI trademark
There has been rumors in the NASCAR community over Junior potentially reacquiring the retro No:8 DEI trademark after his father Dale Sr.’s ex-wife decided laps her ownership of the trademark. He admitted that he is interested in purchasing them.
So, there’s been this conversation on social media, online about the old DEI trademark for the No. 8. And all the things you’re reading about that for the most part are true. We have noticed that, at least as far as I know, Teresa hasn’t re-upped for that trademark. And Kelley and I both were interested in acquitting ownership of that.Dale Earnhardt Jr said.
Junior went on to point out that he isn’t planning to overuse the trademark and will only be doing few things which are significant with it. He highlighted that he would also love to use the number in his racing series CARS Tour.
