NASCAR’s Next Gen car has never been a favorite of the sport. Fans and pundits alike have continued to criticize the machinery for failing to provide exciting on-track action. However, veteran Kyle Petty defended the cars after Dale Earnhardt Jr. slammed them for a lack of thrilling action. Now, Dale Jr. has finally responded to Petty’s jibes.
Kyle Petty had hit out at Dale Earnhardt Jr., claiming that NASCAR had not raced real stock cars for almost 70 years. Moreover, he pointed out that critics have always complained every time NASCAR has made a major change, including the Next Gen cars.
Dale Jr. insisted that he had the utmost respect for Kyle Petty, as he recognizes the experience of the latter. However, the NASCAR icon made it clear that he doesn’t agree with Petty’s comments and hoped for much more from the current cars.
Moreover, Dale Earnhardt Jr. wasn’t pleased to see Kyle Petty bring up the 1950s in his argument. He hit out with a lowkey jibe at Petty’s age in the field. Moreover, Earnhardt insisted that the Next Gen cars were simply not providing the sort of racing that NASCAR was capable of when it came to road courses or short tracks. According to the NASCAR icon, the sport could have far more exciting racing if the cars were just a bit better.
I really, really respect Kyle, I think the world of him, and I appreciate his opinion. But I would just disagree that the car doesn’t produce what I expect. Again, going back 75 years, I know Kyle’s been around a long time, the car doesn’t produce the kind of racing that I know we are capable of at road courses and short tracks.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. gives undeterred response to fixing Next Gen cars
Dale Jr. is not the only one who is not a fan of the Next Gen car. Drivers such as Denny Hamlin have also raised concerns over the machinery, hoping that NASCAR can riddle out the issues. Though, the sport hasn’t shown much interest in bringing any major fixes to the cars anytime soon.

Earnhardt doubled down on his rather firm stance. He made it clear that NASCAR could do a lot better as a racing series only if it had a better car to race with. No matter the backlash he faces, Earnhardt declared that he was not going to stay silent anytime soon. The NASCAR icon was going to constantly raise his voice over the car in hopes of better racing through the calendar.
The car does not produce the type of racing that I think should be our standard, and I know what we’re capable of at road courses and short tracks; and I would not stop at trying to achieve ****** amazing great racing at those style tracks.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. explained
Certainly, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is not going to change his mind. The NASCAR icon remains undeterred despite Kyle Petty’s remarks. This is not surprising after all, Dale Jr. has seen the ins and outs of the sport. He also co-owns JR Motorsport, and thus has insights over how the car drives. Thus, fans can expect to hear a lot more about the Next Gen car in the coming months unless the sport decides to take action.
