With the 2024 NASCAR Cup season approaching the mdi-season breaks, teams and drivers have started looking into their future in 2025 and beyond. Ex-champion Tony Stewart’s team Stewart Haas Racing is the hot topic in the silly season rumours and the elite Ford team is reportedly set to downsize by selling their charters.
NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. has recently addressed the rumors and gave his theory on how the silly season might playout. He pointed out that SHR might strike a unique deal with Front Row Motorsports, and will replace Michael McDowell, who will join Spire Motorsports in 2025, with a SHR driver.
You know the Stewart-Haas charters are available or the rumors is that there are maybe one or two of those charters that could come onto the market. I’m only guessing here, I have no insight but I’m just feeling like Front Row – some sort of a Front Row, Stewart-Haas connection happens, and one of the drivers that’s at Stewart-Haas may end up in that 34 car.Dale Earnhardt Jr. said via Dale Jr. Download.
He reckons SHR will sell the other charters that they are willing to offload to teams like Trackhouse Racing or 23XI Racing who are willing to buy into it. Dale Earnhardt Jr. two times Xfinity Series champion predicted that the silly season will be crazier that expected, with many drivers potentially set to lose their seat.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. addresses rumors on Noah Gragson’s future
The JRM co-owner also addressed the rumors around the future of his former driver Noah Gragson. He is clueless as many in the racing community on what will happen to the driver as well as the SHR charters, going into the 2025 season.
Did I see there was a rumor that [Noah] Gragson might be going somewhere? So I guess my question is, if Stewart-Haas has four drivers and they pare down on charters – who goes where, right? What drivers will continue to stay in those two charters and what drivers may be going somewhere else?Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.
The final decision on Stewart Haas Racing’s future might only come in the 2024 post-season and it will shape the future of the sport for couple more seasons. It will not only affect the drivers and charter market, but will also affect the revenue sharing negotiations between NASCAR and teams.
