The 2023 season marked the end of Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s broadcasting journey with NBC Sports. He is all set to join Amazon-TNT team for the 2025 season as the lead broadcaster for the 10 races they will stream in the middle of the season as part of the new media rights agreement signed earlier this season.
This season is a break for Dale Earnhardt Jr. as he doesn’t have any broadcasting responsibilities on him. He hasn’t attempted any part-time and guest appearance broadcasting gigs this season though he is allowed to do so in the contracts with the streaming giants. Recently via his podcast he talked about a possible return to NBC.

Junior asserted that he didn’t leave NBC because he had issues with the channel nor his fellow broadcasters. He then admitted that if he has a long-broadcasting career and NBC stays associated with the sort for a long-time, there is a really good chance that he might end up returning to them to call races.
I miss it, man. It’s cool, man. They’re great guys and there is zero frustration or anything like that. I don’t want anybody thinking that…And, there’s some good chances that if I stay in broadcasting long-term, I may likely work with them again.Dale Earnhardt Jr. said via Dale Jr. Download.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. finds it weird to be listening to NBC without him
Junior in the same podcast earlier revealed how he feels to not be at the track calling races and having to hear someone else do it. He admitted that he finds it weird not being there at the booth and claimed that his former team is doing a really good job.
They did a great job; just so good. NBC, they just do a great job all across the board and yeah, it was weird listening to the booth and not being there. I texted them; gave them a hard time. Told them, they didn't have no energy.Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.
It’s no doubt that Dale Jr. is missing calling races big time just like a large group of fans. But they don’t have to worry about it as he will return next-season, though in a different role. It would be interesting to see how the streaming gig will playout for Junior.
