The 2024 Brickyard 400 was a dramatic race that got the worse out of even the defending champion Ryan Blaney. The Team Penske Racing No:22 Ford Mustang driver was ferrous on his team radio, more than he usually is, after losing the lead to eventual race winner Kyle Larson in a late-restart in the race.

The situation made Ryan Blaney rant on team radio about the supposed favoritism. He claimed that Kyle Larson was the “golden boy” of NASCAR and that the reason for their late red-flag call soon after the restarts, where the No:5 HMS driver took the lead. The comments from Blaney received mixed reactions and criticism. Now Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. has shared his view on the comments.

He pointed out that Blaney has always had a no filter mode over the years in such frustrating situation. Junior asserted that this will eventually change once he races more in his carer and asserted that Blaney doesn’t care about these rants. He added that the rant was no big deal despite the media picking it up as a highlight of the race.

I think that will probably change as he races longer into his career. …I’m not going to make a big deal out of that because he’s just running his mouth in the car. I don’t believe that he even cares that much about it. I mean he’s mad in the moment, but he just says whatever he thinks. But I think over time, the more that the media picks up on these things that he says, the less he’ll do it.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. gives his verdict on re-start controversy at Brickyard 400

Junior, while talking about the controversy around Brad Keselowski pitting just before the green flag and gifting the race led to Kyle Larson ahead of the re-start, asserted that everything went right in the situation that led to Blaney rant. He reckons that no one is to blame for the incident and the result of it.

I honestly feel like it played out the way it should have. Brad Keselowski is not at fault, they were trying to stretch fuel, they knew they were probably beyond…It’s their prerogative to bring their car to pit road whenever they choose, and it just so happened they’re coming to the green flag, and he decides to pit. … That’s not fault to Brad for how that played out.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.

The drivers would be over the drama as they are now enjoying their first off week since the start of the season, spending time with their family and regain their energy. It would be interesting to see what drivers would think about it once they are back.
