The 2025 NASCAR Cup season has witnessed last year Rookie of the Season award winner Carson Hocevar proving why he is considered the future of the sport, with consistent runs for Spire Motorsports. If not for making some wild mistakes owing to his aggression, he would have had more top 5s that the Atlanta P2. But there so much he can do with the limited performance of Spire Chevy.
Despite all this the NASCAR garage is backing Carson Hocevar to secure his maiden Cup race win sooner than later and finally establish himself as a superstar of the sport. Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr., who has been a long-time supporter of the racer, recently assessed the performances on his podcast and gave his verdict on youngster’s capabilities.
Junior pointed out that Hocevar is a racer that has something special, that many drivers of hen generation doesn’t have. He believes the youngster has some supernatural knack for speed and has raw speed that many in the racing community can’t dream of. If he is able use it to his advantage and become consistent, no one can stop him from becoming a NASCAR champion than himself.
He has something special…There’s good race car drivers, there’s great race car drivers, and then there’s drivers who have some supernatural knack for just being fast. There’s some guys out there that have this raw speed that most can’t compete with.

Further talking about the point, Dale Jr. asserted that at the moment Hocevar energetic attitude and personality currently puts him all over the place on the race track. The moment he gets all these sorted, he can become fast in every race. He believes there aren’t many racers in the sport at the moment, with the same amount potential as Hocevar.
He has to get the rest of it kind of tied together. His attitude, personality is a bit — it’s energetic. It’s kind of all over the place. Once he hauls that in, the field better look out, because his ability to really just be quick and run fast is very rare. There’s not many people in the sport. I honestly feel like that he could really, really shine over the next several years, when he puts it all together.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. added.
Did Carson Hocevar had enough to win the race at Charlotte?
Alongside Ross Chastain, Carson Hocevar had a fast car and was strong enough to be contender for race win, before he eventually got in an incident that ruined his chances. Junior talking about this asserted that the Spire driver didn’t have a proper shot at winning and pointed out that it takes some race losses for the youngster to finally learn how to win.

Hocevar, I don’t know if he had enough to win the race. He was getting stronger as the night was going, as was [Ross] Chastain and Denny [Hamlin], as well. But I always feel like you’ve got to lose a few before you win one.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.
Ex-NASCAR Cup Series driver Kyle Petty also made similar assessment of the situation and asserted that he proved he is capable of winning before his engine bailed on him. In the same conversation, Petty highlighted that Hocevar is going to be the next superstar of the sport, and it would be interesting to see how the youngster is going to bounce back in the coming races.
