Richard Childress Racing’s Xfinity Series driver Austin Hill has been one of the most consistent racers in the second tier of the sport. He has earned himself a spot among the elites of Superspeedway racers in the series’ history, after winning his 8th race in format at Atlanta on Saturday. He now has Superspeedway wins than Dale Sr. and has led the most laps (734) than Dale Earnhardt Jr. (691).

The father son duo of Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. is considered as the bets Superspeedway racers in the sports history, both in Cup and Xfinity Series. But lately the racing social media space is tilting towards Austin Hill as the best drafting tracks in the second division. Junior has responded to these claims via his podcast.

There’s a lot of chatter on social media about Austin Hill leading more laps than me and dad and all that stuff at the drafting tracks. Somebody makes a great point — yes, me and dad didn’t run at Atlanta and dad didn’t have Talladega either.

He highlighted how Hill has been impressive, as he dominated the draft track scene despite starting less races, though the Earnhardt’s never raced at Atlanta and Talladega. Junior pointed out that Hill wins the racer taking advantage of his strong mentality and always keeping his foot on the gas.

But this kid Austin Hill’s done it in a shorter amount of races. So, I ran 30 something races, and he’s done in 20 something. So, I ain’t taking nothing away from him, He has the right mentality that makes a great racer in that style of racing, he just does. He doesn’t think about it, he just keeps his foot on the damn gas, and he just does.

Further talking about the point, Junior asserted that unlike he and his father, Hill has had the advantage of having the fastest car. He credited RCR owner Richard Childress, who played a massive role in building the Earnhardt’s NASCAR legacy, giving fast cars for young Hill to succeed.

With that said, he has the fastest car and he’s great at taking advantage of that and winning races with it. Richard Childress Racing should be commended for how good their cars are in the Xfinity Series at Daytona and Talladega.

The comments from Junior are not something that is overlooking the success of Hill in the drafting tracks, instead it was more of the veteran explaining how racing was back when they were racing for wins in the series. It would be interesting to see if the Hall of Famer change his opinion, once Hill continues win races in the Xfinity Superspeedway events.
