Josh Berry has itched his name in the NASCAR Cup Series history, as he won Sunday’s Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for Wood Brothers Racing, the oldest active team in the sport. 2025 was his debut year for the team, after he was signed to drive the No:21 Ford Mustang following Stewart Haas Racing’s decision to cease operations in 2024.
One of the major reasons behind the success of Josh Berry in NASCAR is the Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. If it isn’t for him, the veterans would still be driving late model races Tennessee. Junior discovered Berry’s prowess and got him to NASCAR via JR Motorsports. He was able to get him opportunities with HMS before eventually making top division debut with SHR.
The legendary driver was over the moon to see his former driver/friend succeed in the sport. He posted a GIF, inspired from 1993’s classic sport movie, “Rudy” that says ‘Way to go, Josh Berry, you’ve finally made it.’ The epic sport movie about Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger’s journey to become a football player at University of Notre Dame.

Talking about his impressive win, Josh Berry pointed out that he is proud and thankful to everyone involved in the team as well as the individuals who have been part of his journey. He admits that it is unbelievable for him to be a Cup Series winner and doing it with Wood Brothers Racing, he sees it as a privilege.
I’m just really proud of everybody on this (Wood Brothers) team. This is a great group. They build great race cars and it’s just been a privilege to drive for them. I’m just so really thankful to be here. There are so many people I could thank for this moment, but to be a Cup Series winner is really special … I just can’t believe it.

Ex-WBR racer was on tears after the Josh Berry win
Elliott Sadler, is one of the fan favorite retired drivers in the NASCAR community and some of the highlights of his career came in his time with Wodd Brothers back in 199-2002. He won one race for them in the time period.

Seeing the WBR Ford back on the victory lane again is really special for the veteran, especially the win isn’t at Superspeedway but at a proper track. Sharing his feelings about it via social media, he admitted that he is tears as he is proud and happy about the victory.

Jon Wood takes a hilarious dig at senior NASCAR journalist after the win
The owner of the team, Jon Wood was over the moon after his team return to the victory lane. During the post-race interview, he made an iconic post on X. He took a dig at Fox Sports Bob Pockass, siting how no one picked them as the potential winners before the race and also admitted that the team doesn’t even have a proper social media team.
Sorry for the lack of posts and stuff. We joke about the admin stuff but we legit don’t have admin. I’m sitting beside Josh in the media center typing this. And [Bob Pockrass] won’t look up but it’s because he knows he f-ed up and didn’t pick us as longshot but we’ll let that slide.

The comments prove their win on Sunday was really impressive considering they won the event with limited resources in their hands unlike the other teams that has massive budget. It would be interesting to see if the team can continue the form and potentially win another race this season.
