The infamous exhibition bout between former world Heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and Youtuber turned amateur boxer Jake Paul was the most talked about sport event last week. The 58-year-old boxing legend lost the bout in a unanimous decision against the young rival. The $20 million payoff being the only positive of the day for the veteran.
The bout didn’t turn out to be the exciting event it was advertised to be and was almost snoozefest. In the recent episode of his podcast he asserted that it was less exciting to watch.
The high tide at the beach was more exciting. To even say ‘Did you watch the Tyson fight?’ you did not give a sh*t who the other guy was. When they got to fighting I was like, ‘Who the hell was I to imagine that Mike Tyson could actually knock this guy out
Dale Earnhardt Jr. said via Dale Jr. Download.
He later admitted that he wanted Mike Tyson to knock Jake Paul out, as seeing the heavyweight champion taking out his opponent was a big part of his childhood growing up. Junior wanted to Tyson winning even if the fight was against his best friend.
I don’t know what I expected. When they got to fighting, I’m like, who the hell was I to imagine that Mike Tyson could actually knock this guy out? This is not happening. I live in a fantasy world where I thought, damn, Mike Tyson, I hope he can knock this Well, it could have been my best friend in there with Mike Tyson. Whoever Mike Tyson gets in the ring with, I want a knockout
Dale Earnhardt Jr. added.
Boxing may have changed over the years, but seeing Mike Tyson fight was awesome – no ifs, ands, or butts about it. ?? pic.twitter.com/hsI3mYmTZR

Dale Earnhardt Jr. believes the bout was scripted
Many in the boxing community felt the bout and all the drama surrounding it was scripted. They based their argument on the fact that Tyson seemed to be less inclined to land punches on Paul. He pointed out that the boxing scene has turned into a circus and there are no longer true battles inside the ring.

I don’t believe anything anymore. It’s really kind of turned into a circus. There’s not a true battle anymore. When you’re watching some of these matches you feel like the ending’s already predetermined.
