The Brickyard 400 was a controversial race. Brad Keselowski jumped into the pits resulting in a confusing state of affairs breaking loose as both Ryan Blaney and Kyle Larson raced for the restart. However, a red flag situation soon arose which helped Larson take the victory. This urged Blaney to tag the HMS driver as the golden boy as he reckoned NASCAR gifted him the victory, which urged Dale Earnhardt Jr. to defend the 31-year-old from such claims.
Kyle Larson became the first driver of the season to win four races so far. However, his fourth race victory did not come in a normal manner as race officials pondered whether his win was justified or not within the rules. Despite the frenzy within the NASCAR garage, Larson was declared the winner as a red flag rendered the race over.
Bull***t, are you kidding me? But that didn't go that well. Now if he had won the Indy 500 in that IndyCar, then maybe I could get on this wagon with you.Dale Earnhardt Jr. said
However, remarks made against the No.5 driver were not tolerated by NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr., who claimed such speculations to be nonsense. He then claimed that such speculations would have gotten his trust if the 31-year-old had won the Indy 500, but Larson had a miserable weekend in the Indy 500. Thus, he rules such a possibility out of the doors.
Ryan Blaney claimed that he holds no grudges against Kyle Larson
Ryan Blaney was in the prime position to win the Brickyard 400 after the No.6 driver pulled into the pits. However, due to the interpretation of the rule books, he lost the race victory to Larson despite the latter jumping the restart. This led him to go on to share multiple anger-charged messages for the championship leader over the radio.
I try not to hold grudges. Those to me are like, get it out, then I'm over it in 10 seconds and now I can move on and focus instead of lingering on this thing that's bothering me.Ryan Blaney said in a post-race interview
Blaney explained that he tries not to hold grudges against any driver. Moreover, this incident would not be treated any differently from others. He further elaborated that such outbursts help him get things out of his system which helps him move on from such instances.
Apart from this, NASCAR is now off for a break as the Olympics begin in Paris. Thus, racing action would return in Richmond and Denny Hamlin would return as a favorite after winning the race at the short track last time around.
