Dale Earnhardt Jr. makes MAJOR revelation about his racing future after impressive race at Bristol
JR Motorsports co-owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. has revealed that he won’t race in NASCAR in the 2025 Xfinity season.

NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. made another impressive racing start at Bristol in the Xfinity Series in his iconic No:88 JR Motorsports Chevy. Just like he did in 2023 by leading laps, Junior proved he still got it by securing a P7 finish against some of the biggest prodigies of the sport in the second tier.
Following the Bristol event fans were excited to learn what will be Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s plan for 2025 and beyond. The star driver has confirmed that he will not race in the 2025 season as his contract with Hellmann’s and Unilever that mandate him to race in one event ends this season. He is shifting the focus to broadcasting for one season.
No, I mean the thing is I’ve been doing this with Hellmann’s and Unilever, great partner. Been doing this, where I’ll run one race and they’ll do about six or eight races on the [No. 7]. Next year they say, ‘Hey, you know, we’re going to do the races, don’t need you to run.’ I said, ‘Man I just might sit out intentionally.’ I gotta work on my broadcasting, new patterns and all that.Dale Earnhardt Jr. said at Bristol.
He feels there is need for him to make more time investment into broadcasting and hence has made it his priority. But that doesn’t mean he is going to stop racing as he confirms that he will most probably sign up for something else in the 2026 season.
So, I want to be great. Been missing you guys at NBC and you know the CW and all that. I feel like I need to really focus on that. That’s really the priority. So, I want to do well in the booth and maybe I’ll get back in this thing. I’m sure I’ll miss it and end up signing up for something in 26 [2026].Dale Earnhardt Jr. added.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. had a lot of fun at Bristol
Though a mistake from his crew during the race while getting the cars balance right costed him couple a of spot, the HOF is really happy about how his race turned out. Him being able to compete for front row finishes against the big guys in the sport gives him extra confidence for the future.
But I’m thrilled. Come out here and be competitive. Man, I don’t know how much longer I’l be able to be competitive. I can come out here another 20 years but you know, eventually these young kids they just get to be so good. So, it’s fun to be able to run with them tonight.Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.
The fans are going to miss the veteran on the tracks in the 2025 season, but he will be involved with the Amazon and TMC calling the races. But many in the racing community will be looking forward to 2026 and him making an impressive come back.
